With your TV/TT (3/4 ton/29BH) combination the use of a 1,400lb rated WDH wouldn't be considered "overkill" considering a 1,000lb to 1,200lb loaded tongue weight range is highly probable..., and most CAT scale results reflect loaded tongue weights closer to 15% of gross weight than 13%.
I would, because there isn't a downside considering that a 1,200lb rated WDH would be my minimum recommendation for your TV/TT (29BH) combination. I also agree with 'oldmanAZ' that the Equal-i-zer's 4-point sway control would be a nice upgrade from your present Fastway e2 sway control.
My present TV/TT loaded combination has a scaled tongue weight of 1,100lbs (15%) and I use my 1,500lb rated WDH from my heavier-prior TT..., very pleased with the towing characteristics.
With any WDH proper adjustment is 'key' in optimizing the function/performance of the WDH.

Hey Bob, would a 1400/14k Equalizer hitch be problematic with my existing White Hawk with a GVWR of 7500, UVW of 5928 and tongue weight of about 600#? Found an almost new one for 1/2 price. And we are now thinking of eventually getting a bumper pull Toy Hauler which will certainly be needing a bigger hitch.

If you're existing 2015 27DSRL has a "scaled" loaded tongue weight of 600lbs IMO a WDH rated at 1,400lbs would be overkill and not a good recommendation...., but, with your 2500HD TV one may not notice the added ride firmness with the 1,400lb WDH. Proper adjustment would be key in this type of a set-up and confirmed at the CAT scale is best.
I do however question 600lbs being your actual "loaded" tongue weight..........,
With a yellow sticker (as-shipped) UVW of 5,928lbs (published UVW 5,435lbs & 510lb dry tongue weight) I would put a conservative 27DSRL loaded gross weight at 6,600lbs (no fluids, etc.). A loaded tongue weight range with a gross weight of 6,600lbs = 858lbs - 990lbs (13% - 15%). Based on this loaded tongue weight range (or heavier) a WDH rated at 1,400lbs would be fine.
Always check for any WDH rating restriction stickers on the A-frame of any 'light-weight" classified TT, HTT, etc..

Thanks Bob. I didn't notice any WDH stickers on it but it's in storage right now, I'll have to take a look next time I'm over there. So why in the heck would Jayco publish a 510# dry tongue weight? With even the low published UVW of 5435# the tongue weight at 13% would be 706# whereas 510# would be 9.5%. What's up with that?

Texdan25,
Normally the WDH restriction stickers are on aluminum A-frames and some of the smaller light-weight steel A-frames. The fact that your 27DSRL has a 7,500 GVWR tells me that you should be fine. My comment was more for folks that aren't aware that there are WDH restrictions out there and should watch for them...., many will state 1,000lb max WDH.

Yes, published weights are very mis-leading, and the 9.5% relates to the 10% minimum tongue weight recommendation by manufactures (10% to 15%). The GVWR is about the only 'published' weight that tends to stick with the TT from the factory.

Thanks again Bob. Looks like I didn't find the deal I thought I had found, the hitch for sale was a 400/4000 not a 1400/14000. Bummer.

What all is affecting the Tongue Weight other that propane tanks, water, etc? Can heavier spring bars be purchased separately or would I need a whole new WDH setup?
I got this response from Rustic Eagle on another thread:
The recommended "loaded" tongue weight for a 29BH (35ft. long, 8,500lb GVWR) would be in the 13% to 15% range of the TT's gross loaded weight. A TT's gross loaded weight is dependent on one's personal cargo loading requirements/habits. IMO a 1,200lb rated WDH would better address potential loaded tongue weight range of the 29BH. Your present 1,000lb rated WDH will work, but you will have to confirm your typical loading requirement. Average 29BH "as shipped" UVW's are around 7,300lbs (yellow sticker).
CAT scale how-to: https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f...v-tt-3871.html
Feel free to start a new dedicated thread (better JOF visibility/replies) if you have additional WDH, weight, towing, etc., questions about the 29BH or your TV. This thread primarily focuses on loaded "scaled" tongue & pin weights.
