Right at the edge???
Tow vehicle is 2006 Ram 1500.
5.7L Hemi
3.92 gears
HD trans cooler
Tekonsha brake controller
WD hitch with sway
5330 truck weight (driver, full fuel)
1201 lbs payload
14000 lb GCVW
Trailer is 28BHBE
6805 dry
690lb tongue weight
Haven't towed this around yet, but I'm thinking that this trailer is close to our max once loaded. Anyone else have some experience lugging around a brick this size? It's a low payload, but it's just the wife, 2 little ones and myself to travel with. Maybe a bit left in the box, all in the trailer. We're already aware that weight savings will be required, but how much?

I have a 26 bh.. 6500 loaded( no water). 700 lbs tongue. Tows great behind my 3.21 rear end. Me wife an 2 kids.. I carry everything in trailer to prevent me going over my payload.. Plus I use a WDH and put air bags in truck.
I have the 8 speed tranny, you probably have a 5 or 6 speed? What is your towing capacity on your truck? 8000 lbs?

8500 lbs towing. Stealership says anyways. Those weights are with nothing in trailer though. Not even a breadcrumb.

More details on your truck.. Trim level, 4x4?, crew cab?
You'll probably be right at your max once loaded.. Wife and 2 kids, clothes, food, dishes, cooking equipment, chairs, tarps, beer, bikes, toys. Etc. It adds up quick.. Easy 1000 lbs+ added to weight of trailer. Then you might add extra LP tank or extra battery..

I have the 2015 28BHBE Elite with fiberglass. See signature for TV. Tongue weight loaded for camping with full water was 1200 lbs. Gross trailer weight approx 8800 lbs. Silverado towed very well. Just my .02. My thought is always expect to be at or near gross trailer weight. Things add up very rapidly. As others have said "The CAT Scale is your friend"
By the way. Yellow sticker unloaded weight as delivered is 7189 lbs

Roughly 1500 lbs of gear to play with. We're going to haul with minimal onboard water for emergencies and meals. Not that we'll be travelling cross-country anyways

*whistle* 1200 on the tongue seems like quite a bit for my TV. the family would be walking to the campground. Haha.

The best way to confirm all your weights and if your WDH is adjusted properly is a CAT scale visit......, but one's loading habits will play a big part in your particular TV/TT combination in respect to what side of the "edge" you fall in.
IMO your TV's limited "available" payload capacity may not support the loaded tongue weight of a 28BHBE.

We just ordered the same TT. Haven't gotten it yet. We will be towing with a 2008 Tundra with full HD tow package. Everything I researched says we will be right on the edge with our payload fine on tow weight since the Tundra is rated at 10500. Can't tell you more on how half tons will pull this trailer till it gets here though.

I have a '14 BHBE and we initially towed it with my wife's Infiniti QX56 (basically a fancy Nissan) all last year. We live in TX and towed the trailer 8 times last year, one of which was to FL. Luckily it was mostly flat towing and I didn't have to deal with too many hills. That being said, I was white knuckled every time we towed...it was not an enjoyable experience for me. I bit the bullet and sold my '08 convertible GT500 Mustang (that's a mouth full) and purchased a 2500 Ram this past Christmas. I've towed the trailer 1 time with the new truck...all I can say is what a difference! I don't even know the trailer is back there.
That being said, I think you can do it, but it won't be enjoyable!

Just making a guess at your loaded weight, but....
Let's assume the TT loaded weight is 7800#. That would put the tongue in the 780-1170# range (10-15%). Add to your truck some passengers, fuel and "stuff" and I'd expect you to be very close to if not over max weight.
As stated above a trip to the CAT Scale will tell you more. Just weighing the TV with passengers and fuel will let you know how much additional cargo you can add to the truck and will cost around $10. For me it's money well spent.
Yes, the CAT Scale is your friend.

My scale results with that same trailer. And we pack pretty light. I'm probably heavier than that now, but a bigger truck is in my near future. (see signature for current rig)
My payload capacity per the yellow sticker on the door pillar is about 250 lbs more than yours (1474 IIRC), and you can see that I'm right up at the max. Your engine will handle it better than mine, and your gears are better suited, but you will be over on payload.
My truck tows the rig okay, but it's not relaxing or enjoyable most of the time; it's only that way under ideal conditions of flat terrain, slow speeds, no wind. I've gotten used to it over the last year plus, and have learned a few tricks to make my truck do better. But all that being said, I'd rather just hitch up and go. On top of that, we just had a baby in October, so my cargo weight is going to increase; back then it was just me, DW and the wondermutt (it has already, but we haven't even started hauling bikes and our canoe)

I'll definitely take both to the scales. Once completely unloaded and dry. And once loaded with our gear that we will be taking. We're used to travelling light anyways as we're former tenters. we'll definitely be upgrading TV,but my wallet doesn't have that much tinder in it anymore.

Welcome to the forum!
I think you will probably be over your payload and just at you GCVW.
My trailer weighs about 1000# less than yours and my GCVW is 2000# higher.
I would not to pull anything much bigger or heavier that what I now have.
As has been said, the CAT Scale is your friend.

Speaking of TV abuse...loaded the truck with (actual) 2348 lbs of reno material on a recrnt trip to Home Depot. You want it delivered? Nope. Just load 'er up!
Truck only sagged when the last pallet was placed.

Wish I had gotten a pic, but last time we were out we saw a pickup (can't remember the brand but I think it was a Ford) loaded up with 2 pallets (not a typo) of cement bags. The actual bed of the truck was creased down the middle from front to back. Worst part was that one of the pallets was loaded partially on the (now destroyed) tailgate and was actually teetering out the back of the truck! It wasn't an old truck either, I would say maybe 3 or 4 years old? Now THAT was TV abuse. I'm no insurance adjuster or mechanic, but if I had to guess, I would say that truck was totaled.
I've never actually seen anything like that with my own eyes.
