Safety Chains To Short

The safety chains on my TT are about 1-2 links shorter than optimal. I can easliy get them on if I don't cross them, however I think crossing them is much safer and possibly the law in certain states---not sure about California Law. I have been fighting this ever since upgrading TV over the summer.

I don't want to replace the whole chain, I am thinking about getting a couple of threaded quick links to make up the distance. I think if I get two that each are rated to at least 1/2 the TT GVWR I should be good. Anything I should be concerned with? Anyone else have this problem, what did you do?

That should work. Actually, my last PU had those as the connector to the hitch.
My Jayco has like D-Rings at the end.
Should give you just what you need to have a little slack.

Replacing the whole chain is not that hard or expensive.. I needed 10 more links for my setup so I replaced the whole chain with grade 8 chain.. and better hooks at the end.

The quick links should be fine ( that's how most chains attatch the hooks anyways). I usually have longer chains then twist them on themselves for desired length.

If you go with the Quick Links, make sure you get the correct capacity.

Installing cheap quick link are like not installing the chains at all. Think safety, for yourself and other.

Yep ^ and dont forget to take a wrench to the thumb/screw jiggy on those links to snug 'em up.
