Slip on tow mirrors

Im sure some here have prolly used those slip on tow mirrors. My question is....
On my yukon the mirrors are painted. Will the scuff the paint? Im kinda (kinda is an understatement lol) picky when it comes to my truck.

There is a bit scuffing, so I installed some dense foam tape to avoid scratching.

I used the slip on mirrors one time did not like the vibration so I have not used them again.

I think the tape would be a good idea with repeated use I could see the scuffing, scratching would be a problem.

I use them all the time but put 3M paint protection tape on the mirror first before slipping the travel mirror on. I didn't do that my first time using them and they did scuff the mirror. 3M tape can be found on eBay very cheap and is easy to apply and remove.

If you're picky about your truck, I would say not to waste your time with slip-ones. You'll never be truly happy with them. There's a reason you can buy them by the armload on places like Craigslist...nobody else really likes them, either. Save your $$ up and buy some replacement tow mirrors. They're pretty reasonable on Amazon and other online retailers. I consider myself a little particular about my rig as well and am glad I went with the replacements. My buddy went the slip-on route and changed them out after one trip after seeing mine.

Check out McKesh Mirrors. Pricey, but you won't be disappointed with the performance!!

My Yukon is already old an scruffed up anyway. But after a couple of times using the slip on mirrors I stopped using them. They just didn't help out that much...

I bought cipa slip on's when I first got my trailer, a few trips later I was shopping for tow mirrors. Made the change and was very happy with the results. I love the look of the bigger mirrors and they make such a big difference!

I have been satisfied with using slip on mirrors. I used Cipa mirrors on my 2 previous Chevy trucks and now have K Source on my Toyota. I have not had any vibration problems. My mirrors are not painted but the slip ons did not create any noticeble scratches to the black plastic. I don't doubt that full size towing mirrors are better, but for most of my needs I prefer the smaller factory mirrors every day. The slip ons tell what I need to know and I have towed through heavy traffic on busy freeways and around town.

Looks like about $169 for the pair of heated and power on Amazon if I keyed in your rig correctly. Pretty good deal IMO and I don't think you'll have any regrets by going this route over the slip-ons.

I to didn't want the" full" size towing mirrors either since my truck(f 150) is our only vehicle and there's no way I was going to park in shopping mall spaces that typically are wide enough for compact cars. I put a piece of paper towel between my cipa's and the mirror and no scratch's. Maybe it depends on the vehicle but i get no vibration with my cipa's.

I have the cipa slipon mirrors for my 2015 Silverado with painted mirrors. The slip on mirrors came with padded tape and the instructions said to wax your truck mirrors to avoid scratches. I have used them on three trips and so far no problem. I like them. No scratches and no vibration.

I use the slip on's with my ram sport(painted mirrors) I use th foam tape supplied, wax with a quick spray on wax ahead of time and cover the painted part of the mirror with a shop quality paper towel.. No scratches or scuffs in 2 years so far...
I opted not to get tow mirrors when I bought my truck because dodge doesn't offer the "power fold option" with the tow mirrors.. I tow my trailer 5-10 times a year so the slip ons are good enough for that. Driving daily in the city, it's nice not to have the larger tow mirrors...

I use these. No scuffing to worry about. I did not want the huge factory tow mirrors as I only do the weekend camping. Plus you can take them with you when trade vehicles!
