Snow and break controler-HELP

I may encounter some snow on my way back home. I have a 4x4 Tundra and pulling a 23' RB. I don't intend on buying chains, I'll just stay put if there are chain controls (California). But if I get caught in some snow storm is it better to lower the setting on your brake controler?
I would think. You may not want much braking on the trailer. Or is that a no no.

If it is well balanced with braking now leave it alone. In a snow storm you want to keep the speed down anyway. You also take it easy on the brake. I pull regular a 4 ton tandem in snowy conditions. I only adjust according to my load conditions not weather
conditions.
