No, I have not and I chose not to. I just did not want to risk that driving scenario with precious cargo on board. My decision totally and each of us is comfortable with different decisions. Best of luck on your trip. It should be beautiful scenery.

If you can, I'd leave Wednesday evening and sleep on the other side of the Sierras, even if you have to pull into a Walmart
It sure has been closed quite a few times this season!! I had thought about 50 as an alternative route, but I think I saw yesterday it is closed indefinitely due to a mudslide so that idea is out lol.

Glad to hear you made it!

Did you have to chain up, or was the road clear?

Good luck and safe travels on hwy 80! I don't know about you but I'm about tapped out on the weather here. Can't wait for full lakes and warm weather camping this spring and summer!

You aren't kidding!!! I'm a big skier but I wouldn't mind a break in the weather for a few weeks!!! Very much looking forward to camping season.

We ended up staying in Loomis, CA on Tuesday (about an hour away from the summit), no way we would have made it over the pass safely. Ended up leaving Wednesday morning and thankfully they removed chain controls just as we were about a mile from the chain up spot!! It was smooth sailing from there.
