Some Towing Information

The only towing we do is from New York in November to Florida, and from Florida in March back to New York. we tow with the truck in our sig, because I don’t feel the need for a diesel. We tow heavy at the maximum combined weight rating of 25,000 pounds and the transmission temperature was 168 the entire time and oil temperature and coolant temperature never changed. we also tow at highway speeds averaging 55 to 70 mph. (the tire rating is 87 mph.). Just putting it out there if anyone has a question of what a ram truck can do.

With the newer gas engins I'm not sure my next truck will be a diesel.

Only thing I can suggest is to cut the transmission service interval to somewhere between half and 3/4s of what the manual says. By that time your warranty is expired and the cost of a transmission is enormous. The newer transmissions have way more gears and aren't built is tough as older ones and failure after max load use is almost certain if fluid is not kept in perfect shape.
