speed
what is a safe speed for towing my Jayco flight slx 264bhw,,,,with my 2015 chevy silverado limited edition w. tow pkg,,,thanks all. ..Dealer is installing a electronic brake controller in my truck along with a WDH / Sway Bar..

My 13 is happiest at 61/62 mph. Anything above that pushes the transmission temperatures to levels above 200* and I don't like that. Your trailer tires are only rated for 65 mph.

Welcome and congrats on the new rig!!!
As mentioned, a lot of the trailer tires are only speed rated to 65mph. Carlisle and Maxxis (from what I understand on the Maxxis) are one of the very few that have a higher speed rating.
Always make sure you have the tires inflated to max cold sidewall pressure. It seems a lot of the tire issues are pressure related.

They might have a higher speed rating but really when your pulling a house down the highway things can go wrong in a hurry. Your families safety has to be worth something to you

I couldn't agree more! Especially if you are at the higher end of your towing limits or are new to towing some thing this long and large behind you...

I noticed I left out part of what I have posted numerous times in other threads:
My crazy thinking is I would rather have a tire with a higher speed rating when towing at ~65ish (what I usually tow pending road conditions, weather, etc.... I have no problem going slower if needed!!!) vs a tire that is only rated for 65!!! Not so you can go faster, but for more of a "reserve cushion margin". No different than when I do replace our factory tires going up a load range from a D to an E tire. For more "reserve cushion margin" from actual loaded weight vs tire capacity....

When I travel any faster than 61/62mph my gas mileage decreases drastically so that the few minutes I might gain per hour running at 68/70 mph is spent stopping earlier to refuel. When running on 55mph highways, I set the cruise at 54 to minimize lane changes and maximize gas mileage. When towing, speed kills gas mileage !

I like to get places fast, but with our Eagle I tow at 60 MPH. Very comfortable and produces good mileage along with a buffer of speed for tires.

After 2 bad experiences (TowMax, need I say more) we upgraded to G'year G614's which I think I could pull coast-to-coast at 70-75 mph. But I still loaf along at less than 65. I could say it's easier on the truck, easier on the 5er, easier on the tires or easier on my pocket, but truth is, it's easier on me.
