I hadn't heard of it referred to as the Swiss Cheese Model, I always thought of it in terms of the way waves from different sources travel across a body of water. Usually the effect of any given wave is just a minor perturbation but sometimes the periodicy of the waves causes peaks from multiple waves to collect at the same point, creating a massive swell that no one wave would ever produce on its own.
