Tailgate Down

Well it finally happened after many years of towing, I finally took off with the tailgate down. Luckily there was no damage. I’m thinking of hooking up a magnetic switch on the tailgate with an LED on the dash to let me know when it’s open. Just curious if anyone has done this. (the warning light not the tailgate down).

Haven't done that but did kill the gate on my 07 Ram a couple years ago. Disconnected the FW ran in the house to do something, jumped back in the truck and took off forgetting to lower the tailgate.......DOH! That made quite the bang when it happened. Fortunately I found a nice clean gate at the wrecking yard the same color.

You could hook up a door jamb switch, to an indicator light on the dash. Something like this.

A bit embarrassing to admit but I’ve done that. Fortunately no damage.

Me too Lost 3 of my 4 rubber chocks. Could have been worse since I carry 2 ladders in the bed. Will never ever forget again.
