Texas hail storms

Huge storm is an hour or so away. Any other redneck ideas? Thinking bags of mulch could fill in the gaps. Lol

Good thinking man. I have experienced this event as well, and let me tell you it can be crazy. My current truck wasn't even a year old and took 12K of damage from hail. Lost my first trailer from the same storm too, also just over a year old.

I laid in bed many nights after the storm thinking about such measures... I envisioned this inflatable shell that could be deployed over a vehicle in such events, similar to an airplane life vest with the compressed gas charge. Hope you're spared.

I put my dually in my shop at the farm. I got one more bay open.
Was either last year or year before my friend who is a State Farm Agent was telling us about a call from another agent that's up in Amarillo. He had called to tell him about some hail that went thru a metal roof of plywood decking then comeing on thru the Sheetrock

Sky, so sorry to hear about the loss from the storm. It’s a love hate thing for me as I roof apartments. If you invent that inflatable device let me know. I’m your #1 customer. Haha
Pooh, if you’ve got a space open it might take me a minute to get there from Austin, you know traffic here is a mess lol. BTW I had huge fun at Barnwell years ago when wheeling a H1 the Unimog’s owned that park though.

Trust me when I tell you that the egg crate isn't going to work! I used one on my '16 Ram in the 2017 hail storm....I hadn't even made my 1st payment and it was $8k to fix! Thank goodness for insurance!

Thank you very much sir, you are kind to say that. I’ve been stressing out over pulling a rig with it due to the lift. Tried to keep the weight of the TT to 8k so I can travel safely and keep everyone around me safe as well.

That IS a nice truck...

DW has been known to run outside with a milk crate on her head during a hail storm and throw blankets over our vehicles. I tend to trust insurance and avoid head injuries!

These days we keep them in the garage at home.

I had a car totaled because of hail damage back in college... And it was only nickel-sized. I was at work, nothing I could do.

Better be here before about 8pm or you will be smack dab in the middle of it.
Barnwell Mountain atv/jeep trails still going strong. Not my thing tho.

We’re getting the worst of it now in N TX. Have pea size hail & 50 MPH gusts right now.

Texas hail storms

Didn’t mount to much so far in the mid-cities. Just heavy rain. We keep both vehicles inside, but my trailer is uncovered tonight at the dealer. I’ll call tomorrow and check on things. I suspect it’s ok though.

Why can’t it just rain here like others places? Always has to be an event.

I know, right! Seems to alway be an event. Austin closed all after school programs in preparation for it.

A guy over on another forum I frequent purchased this for his tow vehicle last summer and absolutely raves about it. I don't have any direct info on it other than he is extremely happy with the way it protects his Cummins Ram.

Hope that all you experience sir. Tho I have seen extended pea size hail events knock all the gravel off shingles. We’re you in DFW for the 09 storms. That was some wicked hail.

I purchased a full body cover for my Silverado back in 2016 just for the Texas winter hail storms...., as I recall it was rated up-to dime or nickel size hail.

My TV covered at my annual Texas winter destination a couple years ago (move it away from the pecan trees during storms)....
