The numbers are in.

Just came back from our first trip of the season and the first time pulling the TT with the new truck.

First, i have to say that going from a gasser to a diesel was the best move I have ever made. I will never go back! This thing pulls like a freight train.

Total trip mileage was just around 150. Total average fuel mileage was 11.2 MPG running 65 MPH. It's a little less than I had anticipated, but it's much better than the old truck. I will admit, I was "playing" a little as well. Interstate on-ramps are no longer a problem.

The engine is very smooth and quiet. The tranny shifts very smooth as well. Tow/haul mode activates the engine brake-although it didn't kick in this time around-no significant downhill grades.

The integrated trailer brake control works flawlessly. It slows the combo as if nothing is back there. When tow/haul is engaged, the tranny downshifts as well to helps slow you down. The tranny will downshift faster also depending on how much pressure you have in the brake pedal.

This is the first diesel I have ever owned. I'm like a kid in a candy store right now. I told my wife on Friday as we were going to the campground that I think I have fallen in love all over again.

Here she is at a rest area (6 year old had to take a "potty break")

A diesel is so much better than a gas burner in the RV world. Not even worth debating. Welcome to the new world. Just wish the gas/diesel price ratio was based on cost of production.

That milage will get better as you put more miles on that diesel. I was getting 1.5 to 3 mpg better milage at 60,000 miles than I was at 40,000 miles, both pulling and just on the highway w/o the RV. Another hint here, drop your speed even 5 mph and you will see a noticible difference as well...and you will still get there nearly as fast.

The mileage should improve after about 20k miles. Nice looking combo.

Brake controller is set at 9 now. Works really well there. They say start at 7 and go from there.

You set this by basically backing into the number, correct? Do you set it until it looks the trailer brakes then back away from that number?

According to the "rule book", you start at 7, start moving and slide the lever over until the combo stops using just the trailer brakes. Keep moving the number up until the trailer brakes lock up and then back it off. My trailer brakes locked up at 9.5, so 9 is my "magic number."

Very nice truck!! I've got an '06 and it does great pulling my 32BHDS, but I bet it's nothing compared to the new 6.7 monster that you've got. I'm afraid to even get close to a Ford dealer right now as I might end up with one exactly like you have!

The first time I went to look at them I was fine. Yes, I wanted it but didn't have to have it. The second time I went and actually drove one is when I HAD to have it.
