My truck is an XL, so my knowledge about some of the options is pretty limited. I basically got the XL and then loaded it with what I could. The only really annoying thing I wish I could have opted for is power folding side mirrors. Also, would have done the adaptive steering, but again not available.

...I will ask the dealer about the XM. It does seem strange that it wouldn't have that option.

I misstated the limits for BLIS in the original post. The manual says the trailer must be a bumper pull 33' or less and 8.5' wide or less at the front.

I have BLIS on my truck and it works well with our 27DSRL. The truck also came with electric folding/extending mirrors. Nice! It wouldn't have fit in the garage without them.

Things I learned buying my Ford

Another pricy upgrade, but worth it in my opinion are the LED head lights, it's not just for looks, although they look Awesome... they are soooo much brighter than the standard halogens.

One issue there is on my 2017 F250 Lariat I could not even get the 1250 dollar lights unless I bought the 4000 lariat package. Do you know if you can just order these separately and they are a plug and play replacement

I don't have a clue about that but I'd be interested to know as well.

Also, if you get a 4wd, you get a big 4x4 decal on each side (I thought it was only for the off-road package, but that gets a 4x4 decal with "off-road" underneath). I didn't like it, just my preference. It peeled off easily, with no residue. "The Google" says leaving it in the sun for a couple of hours or using a hair dryer works well if they've been attached for a while, but I didn't need anything but my fingernail to get it started

Not through Ford. The wiring up front to the lamps is different. You'd have to replace the main harness and it runs around $800-$1000. This doesn't include replacing the headlamps themselves which are $1111 ea.

I appreciate you sharing your research. What is your payload capacity?

Not sure who this was directed to, but mine is 3780lbs.

Wire's is about 4000-4400lbs. Depends on options.

These are total cargo weights. (people, cargo, body equip, etc.)

Work has kept me really busy lately, sorry for late replies.

The only way I know to get the factory LED's is with the Lariat Ultimate package. Since we didn't get the diesel, we had 'extra' money to put into some bells and whistles. Certainly not required, but it was a 'negotiation' between me and my wife. She refused to 'endorse' getting the diesel, so I compromised and bought every option for the gas truck I could get on the Lariat. That package is required.

There are after market options coming online pretty much continuously at this point. Most of my 'halogen' trucks end up with LED's at some point.
