Does anyone have experience with a Timbren Kit? Or, something like it?

I installed pair of timbrens on the back of my 06 sierra 1500 for my 5er and they work great, When not towing they don't touch the springs and give a stiff ride.

I have Timbrens SES on my Sierra 3500HD. They work great with my 5th wheel.

ditto! got Timbrens on Ram 1500 towing Eagle HT 23.5 and they work great. Install them and forget about them.

Dlfeather, I was wondering if you had any rear suspension help on your truck already. Doesn't your 2012 330RLTS have an unloaded tongue weight at 1400lbs? The reason I ask is I have a 2012 320RLDS with 1225lbs on the tongue unloaded. Probably closer to 1400lbs now. Anyway, trying not to drift to far off the OP, I was getting ready to pull the trigger on the Firestone RideRite Airbags, but you guys keep throwing other options out there. You guys that have the Timbrens, do they take away rear sag? I've looked at Roadmaster, Airlift, SumoSprings and now I'll look over the StableLoad system. Undecided again. Terry

I do not have any helper springs on my truck. That's why I was looking at the torklift setup. It engages the overload springs sooner. Do not really want airbags. The truck does fine stock. Just was looking around.

Hi Doug,

I priced these up here in Canada and they want about $250 - $275. I went with the AirLift 1000 bags which cost $125....I have seen the air bags advertised in the US for $85. Unfortunately they AirLift 1000 are for coils not leaf springs.

Doug, I found a set on Amazon for $178, and TheHitchSource wants $200. That's for my Ford. I don't think yours would be much different. I'm going to order from HitchSource if they will match the price. Both had free shipping.

Yesterday I got a quote from Brighton Spring in Fairfield - $320 installed. That's fair, but they look easy enough to install myself. They bolt into the same hole the bumper block is mounted to now. I want to make sure I can get the axle low enough first (or the body high enough).

Brighton also told me they could add another leaf spring for $425. I think that would be overdoing it. You still have to comply with the gross axle weight.

I installed my own, rear only. It was not difficult at all. Got mine from etrailer, IIRC they were about 190.00.

Crabman, I think I understand the dynamics of the Timbren. The set for my F-250 would ride about 1 in above the axle. As you lower the trailer onto the hitch, the Timbren engages the axle to provide extra support. My questions; is there any re-adjustment to the WDH due to less sag? And is the Timbren still resting on the axle after the spring bars are engaged? Trying to make up my mind about suspension enhancement products. Terry

I think your front wheel well measurements will tell you the quick answer.
First thought is that spring bars will be similar as weight is still sitting on rear axel. Same amount of force to transfer weight back to front axel.
If you have your measurements before and after Timbrens, you'll be able to quantify effects.

Doug, I was kind of thinking the same thing. When the loaded tongue weight goes down on the hitch now @1400lbs, the front wheel measurement raises about 3.5 in. The way I'm set up now with my WDH, the front settles down to within 1.5 in with spring bars engaged, which is within Fords new 50% of return. With the Timbrens, it will only settle about 1.5in on the rear. That was the part that a little confusing to me because now I'll only have to bring the front down .75in, but it will require the same "force" to do so, right? I've researched suspension enhancement a lot and I think I'll try the Timbrens. Found them for my 2012 F-250 @ Stengelbros.com for $168. Thanks for the advice, Terry
