Tire upgrade
We are planing on doing a long trip this summer which would be close to 4000 miles. We will be going from our home near Vancouver BC to Dauphin Manitoba then down to visit our daughter near Fargo ND then home through the states towards Seattle then north to the border. Our trailer is listed in my sig but is 7500 lbs GVW with c rated tires they were made in 2009 and are quite spongy in the sidewall. I am thinking of buying new tires before our trip and am planning on going to d rated tires. The payload for the stock tires is around 7200 lbs. I think d rated will carry the weight of the trailer better. Haven't decided on a brand yet

Verify your rim is able to handle the D rated tire pressure of 65lbs. Otherwise shouldn't be any issues. Should be stamped, probably on the back side of the rating. May be a weight rating vs the max pressure. Just match to the comparable rated tire and your good to go!!!
We were very happy with the Carlisle RH tires for the 2yrs we owned our last trailer. I plan on going with the same, or the new tire Carlisle just released to step up a LR as well.
I do hear good things about Maxxis tires as well.

2009 tires have timed out... do replace them before you go.. upgrading to a D range is a great idea.. don't forget to replace the spare too.... please remember bargain priced tires are no bargain when they blow....

After phoning around and checking on tires, most dealers just carry Chinese road rider brand tires, I am leaning towards Carlisle radial rh tires. They are upgraded from the problem carlisles of about 5 years ago. The tire dealer gives my company a good discount and has multiple locations across Canada so it should be good. The carlisles seem to be the only ones made in North America now maxxis are made in Korea apparently

I believe Carlisles are made in China...at least mine are (about 4 months old).

The Internet is a WONDERFUL thing. Get out there and you can order virtually ANY tire you want. I ordered mine from Discount Tire Direct's EBay site. Got a nice discount and shipped for free. I had them installed on my rims at a local tire shop for a reasonable price. I just dragged my whole trailer over there with my tires in the bed of the truck, and they took care of everything.
I don't think I've "phoned around" to find something in AT LEAST 5 years, probably more like 10. I'll call a specific dealer to verify they have a specific thing, but never just calling around "shopping" different places.

We did the tire upgrade to Carlisle and did a did a short trip last weekend. The tires look much better and seemed to tow much better much less hop while we were driving so it looks like we made the right choice. The sidewalls were very soft on the old tires so I don't think they would have lasted much longer.
