Tonneau Cover Type While Towing 5th Wheel

Just bought a 2016 F350 with 8 foot bed which will be towing a 5th wheel here soon. I would appreciate some feedback on what others are using for Tonneau covers. On my last F250 short bed, I had the Extang Encore trifold which I really liked. We were towing our 334RBTS bumper mount with that truck. I've heard from fellow camper that the Trifold covers wont give ample clearance while towing a 5th wheel even with 8 foot beds but just want to see what our fellow Jayco folks are using. Thanks

Had a Retrax Pro cover on rig in signature when we were full timing. Got out of full timing and have been trying to sell it (practically give it away) ever since. PM me if interested. It was on a 2013 F-350 long bed dually as mentioned. It served the purpose well while in use.

I use the Trifold type tonneau cover with my set up and haven't had any issues yet. I have used it with my current set up and my previous fifth wheel as well. This year I put almost 3000 miles on with the new camper and like I said I haven't had any issues. The fifth wheel has come close to hitting a couple times when I was turned sharp and when the truck and camper were twisting but never hit the tonneau cover.

I'd love to see a pic of your truck... This configuration is my long-range plan as well.

I've got a GATOR roll up. That allows me to use a flush bed box in front of the hitch.

I have a RollBAK Tonneau Cover.
RollBAK Tonneau Cover Overview

The only issue I have with my setup is that I can't put my truck at 90 degrees. My pin box would hit the rails. The benefit is it only decreases your clearance by 1/8" and you can move the catch so you can have it closed right up to your pin box.

hard folding cover

I have used the backflip tonneau cover on the last two trucks and have no reason to keep looking. It allows me to use the 5th wheel and still gives a measure of protection for tools and other items we carry in the bed. The other nice feature is that when you're not towing the bed is lockable.Click image for larger version

I have a trifold cover on my Dodge Ram 2500 without any issues. Have to tell you manufacturer at a later date. Bought it through my Dodge dealer when I purchased truck. Have an 8 ft. bed also. Guess I have one issue. Can't see pin going into plate when hitching.

That is a good point!

I can see mine but I'm 6'2" and I still have to stretch to see the pin hit the plate with my 2500HD CC.

Look at the third picture of my cover. You will see a small metal plate. That is glued there to receive a eyeball camera. That's how I see the pin box connection.

I'm 5'10". Crew cab also. Maybe I should put a couple of phone books under my butt and then maybe I could see better!

I have a Retrax Pro on my Dodge CTD and it works great. It slides back close enough to the cab that I can still see the pin and hitch while hooking up.

Wish I could sell my retrax pro, "CHEAP". I don't need it anymore as the tow vehicle is more farm truck now. The cover is taking up real estate in my shop and I need it gone. Would throw in the bed rug too.

Campin J, What Tri Fold tonneau cover do you have?

I just purchased a 2016 GMC Sierra 3500HD with a 6 1/2 ft bed, and tow a 2011 Jayco Eagle 321rlts with the Reese signature series hitch. Looking for a new tonneau cover

I have an 8 ft box on my GMC so I wanted a cover that would open at the front as well as the back to get stuff out when I wasn't towing so I went with this one:

For those of you having trouble seeing your hitch from the drivers seat - from a previous post, here is what I use - a really cheap solution that works!
http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f6...tml#post422998

Also, X2 on the Retrax Pro. That's what I use and I love the fact that it can be locked in any position, so I can pull it right up against the pinbox and lock it down while towing. Of course I don't have to worry about the siderails hitting because I'm using a Reese Revolution that doesn't move.
The other thing I love about the Retrax Pro is the ease of opening and closing from the side of the truck - no "strap" to find and pull, just grab the lock and slide it open or closed.
Of course the one thing I didn't like was the cost - it wasn't cheap - but it's held up well and works great.

The cover that I use is TonnoPro tri-fold. I like this cover a lot it is easy to take on and off and works great. TonnoPro
