Read so much about this before buying our 25FK. 6200lb dry. Had 2015 F150. Pulling was no problem but I didn’t feel like I could maneuver in a bad situation. Even though this circumstance in not good even with a bigger truck, I feel much more in control with my f250. The “tail wagging the dog” feeling is gone..

You need to weigh the truck alone...loaded as you would be towing. And then weigh the truck with TT hitched up, the difference is the tongue weight of the trailer. Those are the critical numbers. If your truck has a total GVWR of 7000 and it weighs 5940 you only have 1060 for the tongue of your TT. In that 1060 you need to deduct not only the tongue weight but also passengers and cargo in your truck, along with hitch weight. Your TT tongue weight should be about 12% to 15% of the weight of the TT. What does the yellow sticker on your drivers door jamb say as to CARGO capacity of your truck? Cargo capacity is the total of passengers and cargo, hitch and tongue of your TT. That is the critical number.

Good Luck

GVWR on truck sticker is 7000, total loaded weight with a full tank of gas and passengers is 5940.

The 5940? Including hitch and cargo in the back? What is the cargo capacity as built on the yellow sticker? It's on the drivers door post. Appears you will close to max capacity or over once the TT is attached.

Your weight distributing hitch will transfer some of the weight onto the front wheels of your TV and some onto the TT. To find the actual tongue weight you need to weigh the truck with TT and WD attached and without the TT connected. That number will give you the tongue weight of the TT. It should be loaded as you will be towing in real life.. Batteries, Propane, cargo etc.

You need to weight your truck with trailer attached to see if your over the capacity of your truck.

It would be helpful if you posted your receipts from the scales. Also, you still haven’t said what kind of wdh you are using, and what weight it is rated up to.

wags999 and bearcat77 are you private interrogators? Seems like Lindaks did his homework and can make up his own responsible decision. That he is close to his max with his model there's no doubt.

We have a similar set up. A 1500 with the 287BHSW. It's the same floorpland and about the same empty weight as the 28BHBE. When we got it we had some porpoising but it's all but gone, and the truck tows like a champ.

My two solutions included getting a BlueOx hitch and setting it up 100 percent. As mentioned, this took hours and test drives, etc. My old hitch was a Curt 17500 and it was not sufficient.

Second, I got over my concern about tongue weight. I bought a TW scale and figured out I was too low. After this, porpoising is nearly eliminated.

Would I trade my truck in for a 2500? Yes, but this truck handles the camper well. There are so many variables it's hard to really nail down what the best solution will be for you.

Not a private investigator. Just don’t like trying to figure out a problem when I’ve only been given half the necessary information. If we don’t see the CAT scale receipts, we have no idea if the numbers we are given are legit. If we don’t know what brand of wdh the op is using, we can’t make suggestions on how to adjust. If we don’t know the weight rating on the wdh bars, we don’t know if they are adequate for the given tongue weight. If we don’t have axle weights, we have no idea if the load is properly distributed. We are simply trying to help the op, rather than offer up idiotic suggestions, like go back to P rated tires.

That number means little...what is the weight on your truck and is that over your trucks capacity is what is most meaningful.

Good Luck..

Bearcat77; Now you lose control of your self? "idiotic suggestions"
The 1/2 ton trucks are designed by the manufactures for P-rated tires with proper weight carrying capacities, but will have a bit more flex in the sidewalls. There have been members on this forum who went back to the P-rated tires and myself after more that 50 years behind the wheel are happy with the P-rated tires. RV are mostly used seasonal and for daily driver the P-rated gives a smoother ride. But each individual can have his/her own opinion.

Your numbers look too good for some people and they can't understand it. That F150 is light. My 28BHBE trailer ready to go is around 8500# with 920# tongue weight.
I discovered that some stretch of highway cause more bouncing than other, nothing can be done about it.
