Post Tow Capacity Worksheet - Or the 'Can I tow this?' spreadsheet

Hey Gang,

Just thought I'd post this up for those of you that are interested. We often get questions across all forums relating to a tow vehicle (TV) and its ability or inability to tow a particular travel trailer (TT). This spreadsheet that I'm linking too really is a great tool to decide just that. It takes into account all your vehicle weights, trailer weights, combined weights, cargo, etc. and really tells you where you can expect to be. Assuming your honest with your weights and you know where to find your GVWRs and GCVWRs, etc.

I highly recommend this tool. Perhaps if you guys agree it'll earn a sticky.

This particular spread sheet can be helpful, but it's important that the user understand the terminology being used. Where it asks for the Tow Vehicle "Dry Wt.", it's important for one to understand that "Curb Weight" is what vehicle manufactures provide (includes 150lb driver, full fuel & fluids), but the spread sheet doesn't allow for the weight of vehicle options. The "Note:" on the spread after "Dry Wt." is very important.

Also, using the "Ship Weight" of a trailer rather than "Dry Weight" will increase the spread sheet accuracy, do to the different ways RV manufactures publish Dry Weights.

Thanks for posting the link.
