With a little one, I have to recommend the bunkhouse model. Trust me when I tell you that the kids having their own bed at night that doesn't need folded out or setup is a great option. We have a teenager and a 5 year old. There are many times that we come back to the trailer and the little one is already sleeping. Being able to just shove her in to the bunk is great.

Of the options that you listed, I think I would be most interested in that Forest River 177 BHX. I'm not trying to sway you away from Jayco (they make similar floor plans also), but I really like that design and size with your currently family, tow vehicle, etc.

yep it seems like that might be best. I will go to them and see if they can cut a deal for price since its almost 50 bucks more a month for a smaller TT.

Does the one you are looking at have a fiberglass exterior or siding? Also, does it have a gas only water heater or gas/electric? I wasn't able to find an exact 177BHX to look at to see the features.

Its a siding exterior. The water heater is gas only water heater. OTD cost is 17k (which they added a TON of additional stuff like 995 stocking fee, sales fee, and walkthrough which totaled around 2k extra) They told me they couldnt remove these. The Jayco OTD is 14.9k with sales, title, and plating. in addition to a walkthrough on how to set it up and tear it down. Same as the jayco with the minnie winnie

Nice looking unit. Equivalent to the SLX series Jayco and the Forest River Salem. Both companies have similar floor plans if you want to compare.

Not to tell you how to negotiate, but “stocking fee, sales fee and walkthrough” all sound like profit padding. Kind of like the new car sticker that lists “dealer profit” on top of the price. No dealer should charge you for a walkthrough on your new rig. If they say they “can’t” remove them, I’d tell them to find the difference somewhere else. Just sayin’.

Agreed. Those are all items that you do not need to pay for. Find another dealer with a similar model. Good catch LuckyDuck.

Yep I went elsewhere. I am now debating between the mini winnie 2108ds and jayflight 23rb. Question, they are the same price and would be the same no matter what way its shaved. Which is a better term investment with regards to maintenance and trips with the family? Plus resale. They both are 14.5k otd without additional cushion and they are including money to buy sewer lines etc. Any support as the mini is 1k lbs less

Also the guy I said I found a better price to at camping world responded this exactly. "OK we can't beat that price I don't need to fight for you I have a stack of papers an inch thick for deliveries. We are selling a ton and if you found something elsewhere then great for you but I don't need to fight for you. "

The Mini is also 6' shorter if I am reading the specs correctly 22' 6" for the Mini and 28' 4" for the Feather. That is also something to consider.

OK, not to give you more to think about (I know that this can be very overwhelming), but google Camping World RV sales satisfaction before you buy from them. Some have really good luck with CW. Others......well, not so much.

Sounds like a salesman. I’d be surprised if they are selling fast and furious right now. I visited my local CW the other day and it was like a graveyard. No customers and about half the inventory they normally have. Overheard a service guy pleading with a customer on the phone to have major work done to the point of asking how long it would take him to save up the funds to do it. I don’t think anyone is buying now and many won’t have the money to buy even when the units start rollin in again. You dodged a bullet with that guy by walking, IMHO.

Yeah we walked into both and they fit us perfect. So we are totally debating fiberglass or siding and solar power on the mini. We love the jahco but worried about towing

I like the size of the Mini personally. Of course, I am a fan of a smaller trailer to begin with.

If you end up buying a brand other than a Jayco, please feel free to stick around JOF. We have many members here that don't own Jayco's. 99% of the parts on these things are pretty much interchangeable between manufacturers. So, most of the info here will be applicable to anything you buy. Besides, we pride ourselves on being the best RV forum on the net.

You have no idea how much that means. You guys have been a tremendous help. I either get a jayco and concern of towing capacity...(which the service center said I will be more than fine) or the mini winnie (less space but all newer amenities) either way seems like a win win for 120 a month lol

I am going to do another once over tomorrow when we are there to solidify my decision and ask for insight from their weights to make darn sure. But like I said worst case we get an 18 mini winnie firehouse red or a 23ft jayco lol

We actually looked at the 23rb before opting for our 212QBW. I believe the 23rb was a little longer (1.5’) and slightly heavier. What we DID like about both was no slide. One less thing to worry about. We’ve never missed having one with just the two of us and the pooch. If I’m not mistaken, the Winnie has a slide? Something to think about.

When we were shopping for our current Jayco, we were specifically looking for one without a slide for the reasons you mentioned above. Certainly one less thing to worry about, especially out of warranty.

It also allows a bit more selection in camp sites. We prefer more wooded, private sites and not having a slide means we can slip into those sites next to trees or hedges!

There is NO investment.. it is an expense.. when you drive anything off a lot go ahead and subtract 20%-30% of what you just paid for it...
if you pay 14k OTD it's value is 10k ish if you need to dump it... if you have time you could get 12k for it...

Make sure you are getting at least 35% off MSRP... in the current market i bet 40% off is possible.. don't be in a hurry...

I would also recommend that you not shop for a payment but shop for a price go to a local Credit union and get rates... then determine what your payment is based off the selling price... don't get bamboozled... take your time... you don't need an RV but they need to sell one... look at any and all "costs"
