Excellent! Please stick around; no need to leave just because you don't have a Jayco. Most RV problems are not brand specific.
Enjoy!

Of course. We take delivery Friday of next week and have our welcome meeting. Lol.
The gvwr of this one is 6000 so I am pretty sure I am golden lol. But you know its lighter than the others and looks on par with what we wanted.
Here is pictures from today

Very, very nice. I love the Murphy Bed design. We have one in our 22BHM.

The guy is telling us at the RV dealership that we should be able to tow the Jayco; but I wanted to pick the brains of those geniuses i am reading through here. Any suggestions would be great. btw max tow rating is 6200 on the durango but I want to keep our first experience with RVs a good one. Any advice would be great as we are going to pull the trigger saturday.

You'll kneed to know the GVWR (Fully loaded weight) and the loaded tounge weight of the trailer. Then you need to find the maximum trailer towing capacity of your vehicle. If the trailer weights exceed the vehicles capacity then the answer is NO you should not tow it. You can get the trailer specs off of the spec sticker that is on the trailer. Your truck specs should be in the owners manual or on a sticker somewhere but you can also ask any appropriate dealer or go on line and search for specs of your model vehicle. Also I agree with the person who spoke about the tow vehicle cargo load and stopping power. Make sure your electronic trailer break switch is set up properly by a tech.Good Luck

Its not just what you towing....but WHERE you are towing.
Hills versus mountains, versus sandhills, versus plains...
Do you have a brake controller?
How good is the trans on your Durango?

By the way, as a first timer, you need to know that you START negotiating at list price MINUS 30%. If that doesn’t happen, you will see a huge depreciation number quickly. You must start at the right price point, don’t let the dealer tell you otherwise. They know you’re a novice at this, please don’t pay extra for that...
And I haven’t seen an extended warranty that was worth it. Speaking of warranty’s, are sure you get the full 2 year warranty that Jayco offers. To just a one year with longer for structural. That second year is a big deal.

As you’ve heard. Go light: onboard water of all colors and inside/pantry stuff. Your pull-weight margin is pretty low so probably want to avoid mountains. Or and long fairly steep hill Should have a transmission cooler:radiator and temp gauge.

RV saleman and People always look at the max tow rating when its really the vehicle max weight capacity that is the problem. I have a Ram 2015 1/2 diesel with a towing capacity 0f 8500. My trailer weights 5500lbs. I just get under the trucks GVWR. That's with ONLY two people in the truck.

We had a 2015 Durango SXT V6 with tow package, WDH and a 23RB. Durango was OK pulling on flat ground or in the regular mountain roads. Where it had problems was in the rolling hills of western Iowa and in Nebraska, it could never decide what gear to run in. On I-90 headed west in North Dakota, there was strong head winds, speed limit was 80MPH and we could only do 55. So I would draft behind the slower trucks so I could do 65. In Wyoming going up some of the mountain grades on I-90 the V6 would just run out of guts.
Replaced the 2015 with a 2016 Durango SSV with tow package that has the 5.9L V8. Now towing is a breeze, in the same places the V6 struggled.

For me the scariest part of towing any trailer are two things, handling and stopping. If the trailer pushes the TV around or I can't stop in a reasonable distance, then I am very nervous. You can help the handling with a properly adjusted weight distribution hitch and proper weight distribution in the trailer. To have good brakes you need a good brake controller, good wiring and good, properly adjusted brakes.
You may have to experiment some to get the WDH and weight distribution correct.
I would manually adjust the brakes before leaving the driveway, I have found they are not always adjusted correctly.
Have fun
Rich

I-70 west of Denver with the 23RB tagging along. 5.9L V8 had no problem keeping up with traffic, even at 11,000 ft.
Keep your load light and well balanced and yes, a good brake controller.

We purchased our 2017 23RB brand new and love it. That said, We first towed it with a diesel F250 and now diesel Ram 2500. Prior to purchasing the Ram I had looked into possibly towing with a half ton but ultimately decided against that. We do a lot of driving over mountain passes and suspension and brakes are just as important as horsepower. Regarding cost, We paid even 17K out the door if that helps.

As to Durango able to tow the Jayco 23... suggest going to one of the online tow guides like available from Trailer Life, Camping World etc. for accurate information. We tow a Jayco 23RBM with a Ford F-150 EcoBoost 3.5 (365 HP) and not sure I would want to be towing with anything much smaller. Not so much do to engine HP but stability when being passed by large vehicles going either direction. Good luck, do your home work and enjoy the experience.

I looked it up on You tube. Wow. Nice. Too big for me but would love to have a bathroom with a closet like that one. Have fun. I just finished rearranging the camper trailer and will do the beds Friday and then finish arranging under storage areas. Can't wait to go out and be any where but in the house. Happy camping.

I was going to suggest what I have now, Forrest River Wolf Pup 16BHS, awesome trailer, real happy. Looked at the comparable jayco, sink was small, fridge was under counter, and mattresses were sh*t, not that mine are gold, they are better, that is all dependent on weight, the heavier you are, the sh*ttier they are, all mattresses, in my mind). We had a sport 8 jayco PUP great, but setup, got old fast, 3 seasons. Guess that’s why Jayco doesn’t offer pup’s anymore... too bad, they do have a use. I never really felt it behind my Frontier and never saw a huge drop in mpg (16mpg with trailer!). The ease of getting to a site and set up turned the page. My new trailer is so much better, my son and I have slept in the house 3 days this month. Thank god for heated mattress pads!
Get the gadgets, tricks, hacks, whatever you want to call them and use your trailer! Have fun and camp in the front lawn! Now you have your own covid19 secluded space. If my wife or I get sick, that’s were the suck one will be. On premise quarantine.
