To the OP: Are you still towing with the 1500? I am looking at the same trailer but have a 2015 Chevy 1500. I would love to hear about your experience.

I have no issues pulling my 27DSLR.
Use good loading practices and enjoy.
I do not need air bags or mods to the truck.
I have no issues braking.

With WDH engaged I am at least 750+ of tongue weight with my 28BHBE, we have a thread comparing different 28BHBE configurations and mine was the lowest. I think you should expect 750-800#, assuming the numbers below are speculation.

I never had any problems with the Chevy handling the 27DSRL. My issue was with the 5.3L having enough torque. It would get me to where I wanted to go with no overheating but the transmission would "hunt" on the slightest of hills. The solution could have been to limit the transmission to 4 (out of 6) but the whining would annoy me. IMO for any 3 to 4 hr trip I would not have a problem with it. To pull to FL or through the mountains out west I didn't like. We knew we wanted to upgrade to a much larger 5er in the future so we just bit the bullet a little sooner and upgraded to a 3500 Duramax. Completely different pulling experience! Plus we have decided to purchase a Truck Camper for our occasional "road trips" so the 3500 (at least a 2500) is a must for most all TC's.
