Towing question - new to RV-ing

Hi everyone,

Although an avid camper, I am brand new to RV-ing. Always used a tent but now will small kids would like to "upgrade".
We have a '08 Honda CRV. Does anyone know if it would tow a Jayce J1006 camper? Any tips for a newbie?

I'm not entirely sure about handling that particular trailer but you will definitely want to check the towing capabilities of your Honda - which I recall is about 1,500 pounds. If the trailer is listed at about 1,200 pounds, and you still will have other added weight to it such as water, food, etc, you will be pushing your CRV to its max. A recommended safe towing amount is usually no more than 80% of a TV's capability...meaning that you would have to look at a total towing weight of no more than 1,200 pounds. Please keep in mind that I'm not 100% sure of the CRV's towing capabilities and the J1006's weight, only by what I quickly found online.

Like newrvguy68 says.....the websearch and Honda CRV Owners site I found all said the same....1,500# tow capacity for the standard model. Couldn't find anything different for the AWD model...

Unfortunately, sounds like WAY too much trailer.....

As Crabman noted, the J1006 has a UVW of 1,950lbs and a GVWR of 2,950lbs......., so a vehicle with a published Tow Rating of only 1,500lbs is not a good match.

We just bought Sallie a new Honda CRV. The book says it has a 1500 lb towing limit. They only come with the 2.8 liter 4 cyl engine so you can't expect much for towing ability.
