towing with 5.4 triton

I have a 99 f250 with the 5.4 triton my TT is 2010 starcraft 297bhs fully loaded it's right under 7000 the weight is not issue i'm within range. My question is for those who currently have this type of engine or had one. I've been told to expect the engine to run at a very high rpm but this engine was made for that and can handle the high rpm. So those who have or had this engine how did it handle oh I also have 3.73 for rear end. I know a diesel would be better but this is what I have and have to live with it for a while

We pulled a smaller TT with our '03 Expedition 5.4 for a couple of years with no ill effects. On level ground at cruise speed (<65mph) it would mostly stay in OD and I seem to recall turning abt 2300rpm. The TT was a touch over 4400# so we were lighter but I think most of the drag came from the area of the nose cap. BTW we never broke 10mpg.

I had a 2002 F150 with the 5.4 in it. Mountains will be where the engine will spend some time north of 4500 RPM's. My truck did it just fine. No issues to speak of.

I have a 99f250 5.4 ,4:10 rear end. have had a 30ft Trail light,27 ft Tahoe fiver and now a 298 Eagle. I also pull a 14ft V nose cargo trailer loaded with tools most every day and when I'm not pulling that its a 14ft 12000 lb dump trailer.
The only time I notice high rpms is when accelerating but not when up to speed.
Most of the time in trailer mode it runs 2500 to 2800 rpm at 55mph
Gas milage is horrible but hey,its paid for.

Pulling a 26bh with a 2004 Expedition with the 5.4 triton. Only time I really have to push it is on a very steep incline. Other than that it pulls great. Can easily maintain 55mph over most mountains but 45mph on the steep ones. As for mileage..... most people I know pulling with a gas engine complain about that.

Used to have a 2005 F150 with the Triton 5.4 w/3.73 rear pulling my then 2001 26' Sunline weighing in at 7500lbs loaded. Been all over with it never had problem. One of the toughest gas towing engines ever made. I towed with the overdrive off goin' up RT81 running that motor flat out for 240 miles at a time between fuel stops for years. Never quit or burnt a drop of Mobil 1. Blew up ole 351's trying to tow, had to baby those things. Whoever owns Tritons just let it rip, high RPMs, hell If I didn't blow mine up, it cant be done.

I had a 99 F250. I can't remember what the gears were now. We were pulling a 30' 5th wheel. The weight was somewhere around 7,500 lbs loaded I would say. It had to work even going down hill. I will say that it was a great engine. Not a whole bunch of power but it liked to work. I remember many a hill with my foot mashed to the floor with the little beast turning 4,500 or so rpm. I think it would have done that all day long.
