Yrs it does....however mine was challenged on hills and with the tongue weight. Ended up trading it for something larger.

I used to have a 2011 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab Long Bed 4x4 with the TRD Sport package. It also had a 6500 lbs tow rating and 650 lbs payload.

Looking on Toyota's website it appears the the 2014 have been downgraded to 6300 lbs towing and 630lbs payload. You still get the 6500 lb rating with the Access Cabs.

If that's the case it's interesting as it's essentially the same truck.

Toyota is now following the SAE ratings. It is the same truck with the same capabilities. Only the SAE designation has changed.

I'm strongly considering a Tacoma for my next TV, but I have a PUP.

I would only use one of these small/mid-sized trucks with a PUP or small hybrid.

I agree withraising4daughters 100%. Even though the Tacoma is rated @ 6500 lbs.towing capcity, I would not tow anything over 3500 lbs. Gross Trailer Weight. The Tacoma does fine flat ground, however on hills and mountains the
6 cylinder is working hard. In the Mountains your going to be traveling in the
truck lane. My Tacoma came with the 3 bar rear leaf spring setup. Toyota announced a TSB to upgrade the Tacoma to a 4 spring setup, however my
warranty had expired. When I bought my X17Z and hooked it up with my
Reese dual cam WDH and the rear end still had notable sag. I installed a set of
Timbren SES bump stops on the rear. That stopped the rear sag. My Tacoma
tows my X17Z with awesome handling characteristics no sway even with
18 wheelers and buses passing me or me passing them. I had one of those
double decker MEGABUS pass me on the interstate and non of that push / pull
effect. The only down side to the Tacoma IMO is that it does not perform well
on steep grades and mountain travel.

When you quote payload is that a combined load for both axles or the result from a CAT scale?
Each axle will have its own weight limits and on my previous TT and TV combination I was well below the max trailer weight (8000#) but my rear axle was loaded close to its max.
Rear GAWR = 4128#
Rear GAW = 3800#

Toyota adopted early the 2013 SAE towing guidelines for towing vehicles. Before this manufacturers could claim anything they wanted and did. My 2011 5.7l 4x2 Tundra went from 2010 specs of 11,000 lbs towing to 10,200 but it is exactly the same truck!
