It appears you have problem in this case.

BTW I am PhD. So what?

Sometimes on a forum what is typed does not come across the same way something is said in person. More misunderstandings come from this simple fact than anything else. Why don’t we just realize that he person might have read something that we really did not type (or mean to imply by our typing). In a face to face conversation we would realize things and just restate it.

Having said the above then here’s what I know from owning and towing my 27dsrl with an F150 and with an F250. They are night and day difference. I can still feel my trailer back there but the back end of my truck does not feel as squirrelly. I do know the 250 has a beefier suspension, beefier wheels, beefier brakes, and has a longer wheelbase. I also know it costs 2/3 more than the 150 (68,000 vs 39,000). You could have gotten a 150 with the HD package that would give you more towing capacity but I since I did not do it initially then I have now a6 of knowing if it would have pulled what I have.

Yes you can put aftermarket axels, wheels, brakes, etc on a 150 but just doing so would not allow you to tow more than what is on you your sticker, without extensive testing to find out where your weakest place is (or so I have been told).

Why can’t we just be happy for the OP on his choice of vehicle. I for one am happy the OP found something they like, and feel comfortable with. Maybe if the OP had downgraded their TV and had a monstrous trailer the half the options above would be more relevant.

Let's play nice or another towing thread will die like so many others before.

I posted on this thread before it got to where it is now and one thing I can't figure out is how someone could possibly think that a 1/2 ton could even come close to towing as well as a 3/4 ton. Maybe it's time to shut this down and to each his own I guess.

I think people who own 1500 are sissies! Lol. J/k. The biggest thing that gets controversial is when folks are near the limits. Simply put, if you get everything dialed in, could can do things with a a 1500 near the limits. With a bigger truck, you have a lot more budget in how you load, and how your truck is setup. The safe speed is likely different as well.

You are right: "Each his own I guess"

Have you looked in the mirror lately? Maybe 1/2 drivers are smarter and better drivers, who is the judge from a forum. Don't forget a truck has design specifications. "Know your limit, stay within it"

No, of course not! That would remind me what I look like. What I said was pure jest making fun of how these threads get emotional, so don't get offended.

FYI, I had a 1500 ram before this. If I ever get rid of the TT, then back to a 1500 I go. Can't beat the ride and the MPG. For me, the 28BHBE was TOO MUCH, but that is the trailer that worked best for our family. Not to mention, the ecodiesel 1500 I had struggled to keep temps down when towing above 60mph. So traded it our for my 2500.

This is what happened to me. We started out with a pop up and a 150. We then wanted a bathroom do we upgraded to s 23mbh. Fast forward only two years and after a second child had to move to a larger trailer. After only two trips and many attempts to get the weight within limits I felt more comfortable upgrading. This did affect my pocketbook but it made me feel safer.

I do not automatically subscribe to the theory I needed a SuperDuty to pull my pop up but I also believe that if you are at the margins you might feel better.

Again though why can’t we be happy for the OP who just wanted to talk about his truck.

I agree that an F250 or F350 would be more stable for towing, but I will admit I'm very impressed with my F150 Ecoboost.

My trailer weighs around 8000lbs (950lbs tongue measured with a scale when loaded) and I was quite pleased with my trip from Ontario to Florida back in March. I even dealt with 25-30mph winds in the Appalachian Mountains, yes I felt them for sure, but no sway.

I didn't suffer any sway, only minor sucking from semis, but all semis, only the ones going 75mph.

I use an Equal-i-zer 10k hitch and I attribute my good experience to that hitch.

Would I love a F350 for towing...YES, but since it is my daily driver, the F150 is a better fit. I also don't have any white knuckle experiences, I literally can tow with one hand on the wheel, nice and stable.

Congrats on the F250, that's a nice truck!

my 2017 1/2 ton Silverado with echotech has NO problem towing my 29 foot trailer
has no problem stopping It
has no sway issues

I have a short bed, and don't put much weight in the bed
the coolers and bikes go in the camper over the axels
there is NO weight behind the axels

I have wd bars and friction sway control...

it takes a little while to accelerate to 65 on hills, but it gets there

Its not about just towing capacity. 3/4 and 1 ton trucks have more payload. so lets say you have a 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton. and a trailer thats 11000 lbs calculate to 15% on the hitch that come to 1650 LBS and that is where the difference come in to play. the 3/4 truck payload is rated at say 3500LBS and the half ton at 1500 LBS. Even though the two trucks are in there tow rating the 1/2 ton is over on the payload rating. especially after you add people fuel and additional items to the 1/2 ton. I have a 3500 DRW and its big and i drive it daily and sometimes its a pain and i wish i could go back to a 1/2 ton. But i own and live in a 40 foot 5th wheel and its what i choose to deal with but I'm never over limit. But i did own a 1/2 ton for many years and after you move to a 3/4 or 1 ton you will never look back and again after you go from a bumper tugger to a 5ver again you will never look back.

It’s too bad everyone is ruining the OP’s post about how he bought a new truck by starting again another p**sing war about 1/2, 3/4, and 1 ton trucks.

Most of the post i read were backing up the original Op with a very good decision, The only ones i see P**sing are the 1/2 ton folks because he made the right decision not only for himself but the safety of all on the road. congrats on your new truck.

But, I'm telling you, it tows like a dream. Sure I still use the WDH and friction bar, but it truly tows amazingly well.
Congrats Garberinc - enjoy!

I really wanted to check out the new F-250 w/6.2 and 4.30 gears but was outside my price range. I ended up with a 15 Ram 2500 w/6.4 but am not disappointed.
