The best light truck tire you can afford. Based on everything I have read on two different RV forums stay away from ALL trailer tires regardless of manufacturer or country of origin.

I am in the same boat.
If you're running 13" tires, it's hard to find light truck tires in that size.
You can probably order the Maxxis at Tire Discounters or just order some tires from Etrailer.com
I am just going with the Etrailer tires. About $111 including wheels, free shipping.

Let us know what you find.

I've heard lots of good things about Maxxis tires. I actually just ordered a pair through a local tire dealer, they were actually cheaper than any online price I've found.

When we bought our 17Z in 2010, new on the lot, the factory Duro tires looked 12 years old were grayish colored and cracked. The dealer replaced them with Maxxis before we signed the off on the deal. So far the Maxxis seem to be a good quality tire.

Like Dougtoms01 said above, you don't have alot of choice with the 13" wheels.

Buddy replaced his with maxxis and is very happy he also went to a d rated tire from c. I am going to do the same with mine. I feel the c rated tires on my trailer are very close to the load limit. Look into upping the load rating too.

Just replaced mine with Maxxis. Be sure to check the date/year made. It will tell you on the side wall. At this point only buy 2012/13 tires.

Somebody should come up with a kit so you can put duals on trailers. Tandem axle trailers with duals all the way around...way cool! Of course the same company could offer new wheel well covers too just like the dually pickups have.

Doug
I had a hard time finding 13" D rated which is what came on my TT from jayco. All I was able to find in a radial 13" was C rated so I stuck with what was reccomended. I went with the e-trailers bias Trailstars tires. So far they have been great but have noticed two things about these tires. When I got them in the mail (ordered standard delivery and to my suprise they were on the door step within 3 days!) they appeared mis-shaped/smashed in apperance once removed from the box but once on the rim and air added to seat the bead they resumed the normal tire shape. Also (possibly from bring a bias ply tire) after the trailer sits for several weeks/months they develope a flat spot and is noticable after moving the trailer but rounds/smooths out after 50 yards or so.

We were in South Dakota a few years ago. We saw a 5th wheel with triple axle with dualies. It was impressive. I have always wondered what he had inside that he needed that much tire tread. By the way it was not a toy hauler.

Well, if he blew one tire he'd still have 11 to carry the weight! LOL

I remember flat spotted, bias ply tires, from sitting! Sometimes it would take awhile to smooth out. I once had to explain it to some younger workers years ago due to a few older vehicles so equpped.

Newmar makes a 5er with dullies, can't say I've seen it in a tripple axle though.

Edit; Correction, used to make a 5er with tandem dullies. Just visited their website and it is nolonger offered, discontinued.

Has anyone upgraded their wheel/tire size to the next larger size? According to according to a "tire expert", the tires would run cooler.
I have a Skylark and am considering the change. Any suggestions/ideas?
