Truck tire thoughts?

Thinking about replacing the Michelin Defender LTX tires on my TV. Can’t get the same tire in my size (235/85/16 LRE) anymore but they offer Michelin Agilis Cross Climate as a new version. I’ve heard mixed reviews. My shop is suggesting Toyo Open Country H/T II. Anybody’s experience/thoughts on those or Toyos in general is welcome. Or on the Agilis. I don’t need anything super aggressive. No snow issues or off-roading. Mainly towing on highways or driving around town. Thanks!

Did you try calling Discount Tire and asking them? Good resource.

Not yet. Got the suggestion from my RV and truck repair shop this morning. I'll check with them, too.

We run Toyo Open Country A/T 3's on our F250's at work... I wouldn't hesitate to buy them for my own truck, when the time comes. The H/T 2 is a well reviewed tire; with a more highway bias - I'd consider it for sure.

Thanks! The AT III is more aggressive than I need for sure.

Same here on Toyos. On my 2nd set on my 2500 Duramax. Best, smoothest wearing and strongest tire I've ever had.

Had Toyos on my Truck originally, they were worn out @ 35,000 miles. Switched to Cooper AT3's. Replaced them 2 weeks ago. they had 69,105 miles on them. The Shop Owner verified & was amazed by the mileage. He laughed because they still could have passed Pa inspection (barely) as the tread was sufficient.

I switched to Continental Terrain Contact as they are a little less aggressive. It's a nice balance of Road tread & Mud & Snow. Just put the first 1000 towing miles on them, Pa to western Tennesse. They are quieter and Handle well, maybe too early to tell but I am impressed so far.

As my mechanic/Tire guy said, Rotate truck tires often.

@LuckyDuck I have a set of Toyo H/T that now have 42K miles on them. Balance and rotate around every 7500 miles and constant run at 41psi when not towing and at 52psi when towing. I'd say usually I encounter more snow than you might and these do well here, but this year may have been a test for you given the CA snow reports. These are now down to 5 and 6 32nds. They'll be replaced this fall. They've been a good performer for my uses. I've had a lot of different brands and 'styles' on my trucks over the years...these have been a good choice. The Cooper's are good also and don't seem to have suffered from the Goodyear merger like Kelly did.
