Truck wiring harness

When I hooked up our TT last week (the first time) I noticed that the right turn signal was not working. So when I got home I hooked up the car hauler to check to see if the truck or TT had a problem. The problem is the truck, I check both factory trailer connectors and both right turn signals post have a steady current flow of 12.6 volts. It is under warranty but I don't want some clown cutting in my wiring harness of the truck then a applying a quick patch. Any Ideas? Should there be a wire that is hot all time?

Are you seeing 12v constant on the right turn signal post on the truck? Is the blinker blinking when this test is done?

Chevy has been selling trucks with the "traileribg package" for years, but never hook up the constant 12v post. So, there should be a constant 12v post, but not at a turn signal. You'll have to connect that lead for the 12v constant line to the fuse box under the hood. (Assuming your truck is a chevy)

This is a Chevy and this is the way the truck came. When I plugged the trailer in the light came on. There is a constant 12 flow on the right blinker and because of that there is no blinker. I Checked on line and there is a 12 volt line so I guess there is a wire touching. I am going to try to check it myself but just have not felt up to latey, but maybe this week. Don't remember which terminal is hot. I'll let you know.

I agree with you - I wouldnt want somebody monkeying with a "patch" either. Personally I did have my mechanic deal with it, and I asked him to keep it factory. It keeps it easy to work on the truck between mechanics, and a dealer too.
