I squirt the ball and coupler with WD40 before hitching up; it doesn't make a mess like the grease does but it helps hook and un-hook. But sometimes I still wind up jumping on the bumper when I'm too lazy to reposition the truck--hey who would want to miss that kind of fun!

Here is my tip, Don't disconnect the safety chains until you are sure it won't move.
