WDH.....EQUALIZER or HUSKY ????

We have been in the market for a new trailer. We have been to a few dealerships and they have been pushing the Husky WDH over the Equilizer WDH. I realize that the patent ran out on the Equilizer and now others are trying to duplicate it. I have used the equilizer in the past and had no issues. Has anyone else seen this pattern and if they are using the Husky how do they like it. Is there anyone that has used both for comparison.....

I think they are both fine. I have had a Husky for years with no issue. I have friends with equilizers for years with no issues. Which one do you think you will like hooking up and un hooking more? Try both and go with your preference.

I have a Husky Center Line, and it’s been great so far. It’s heavy, and does make some noise, but I think the Equalizer does as well. It comes with a special tool to get the bars into position, which can be a little tight. I’d buy it again.

I have the Equalizer and love it. I can tell you to avoid the Curt Trutrack. The frame rail hangars are too thin and bend. Went through 2 pairs and finally gave up and switched to the Equalizer.

You didn't mention the size or models your are looking at to buy.

If you are going to be under 4,000 pounds I would recommend the Andersen. Lightweight, easy setup, easy on/off, great internal sway control.

Check out Blue Ox. Very easy to use, quiet and we found support (questions) excellent. They also have a free campground (water, power, sewer) next to the factory in Pender, Nebraska (north of Omaha) for owners of their product.

Also while in Pender you can tour their facility (call for time of tours).

As for the Sway Pro, we have towed our QBW212 over 4000 miles this trip and it handles the trailer like a dream. Sway hasn't been an issue, pulled through 2 rain storms on Interstates and the trailer was like on tracks behind the pickup.

You can order direct or find on Amazon (ships free on Prime).

I have the Husky Center line WDH and have towed over 20,000 Km's without any issues at all. As mentioned earlier it is heavy and I find that the truck and trailer have to be completely straight or it can be difficult to remove the WD bars. Other than that I'd definitely recommend it.

I will say that you are likely over weight for your truck.

Equalizer is tried, true, and proven. No question, wouldn't use anything else for a pull behind.

I, too, have the Husky Centerline. It's been working well for us. Having said this I think that the Equalizer is a great way to go as well. The Husky is a knock-off of the Equalizer's original design.

At the time I felt that the Husky was a better value.

Good luck

Didn't bother me. Just trying alert the folks replying and, hopefully, alerting you that you'll need to check the responses in more than one place.

I have HUSKY -Round Bar Weight Dist. Hitch Package( includes anti-sway.) Had it since 2012. Works Great, does what it is suppose to do. Yes a little noisy. I do recommend removing the round bars and anti-sway before backing into any site that requires much turning.

Equalizer+HB+Jeep GC

I have the Equalizer. I have towed my HB 17RK with Jeep Grand Cherokee from coast to coast. I have never had any issues. The HB stays in line with the Jeep and sits level. Buy the special lube from equalizer for your hitch.

For my first trailer last year (154bh) the dealer set me up with an Equalizer E2, with the 800 pound bars. Those seemed like a bit much, so I traded them for the 600 pound bars.

When I got the new trailer this year (224bh, dry tongue weight of 449 lbs), I bought some 800 lb bars again. But with the trailer fully loaded, and about 300 pounds behind the rear axle in the Yukon (which needs to be added to the tongue weight for the WD hitches), it then seemed that the 800's were not enough (not enough lift, and too much flex). Also, the rear auto-level shocks and compressor on my used Yukon XL were on their last legs, which didn't help.

So I then ordered the 1000 pound bars, along with a Sherline tongue weight scale. I also got the E2 "bracket jackets".

When weighing the loaded tongue weight, it came in at 700 lbs. If I add 200-300 lbs cargo behind the rear axle of the Yukon (estimated), that brings the WD weight calculation to 1000 pounds. So the 1000 lb bars should be perfect. Just setting up with them, but not towing, showed an improvement in reducing of spring bar flex and vehicle lift.

Also, with the hitch ball and bar socket ends greased well with white lithium grease, and now with the addition of the bracket jackets, the E2 seems totally quite when turning or backing up.

Finally, I've got the Yukon compressor and air shocks replaced, which helped the rear end lift of the Yukon.

Once I get a chance to take it out for a tow, I'll report back with the performance, now that all the proper improvements have been made.

I found that the
