I like the look of the body color bumpers on the Ford products right now.

What did we do to our tow vehicle today you ask??
Without trying to start a Ram and Ford war, we upgraded from our Ram 3500 Laramie SRW to the F350 King Ranch DRW.
Man what a ride!!
Cheers

Mine was washed by the high school students just down the hall from my grade six room for a community volunteering project.

Today I did a little maintenance. Replaced the fuel filters and the air filter. Next up will be flushing the brake fluid and a drain and fill on the transmission fluid.

So I was going to do the drain and fill on the transmission and there’s no drain plug! [emoji35]

Apparently Ford decided to eliminate it on trucks built after 7/17.

Now I need to decide if I want to buy a new pan with the plug and deal with the guaranteed mess I’m going to have trying to dump 8+ quarts of fluid or just leave it and let a shop deal with it.

If you do decide to do it yourself, pick up a new pan with a drain plug and some additional capacity. BD makes a really nice pan with a 6 quart additional capacity. ATS makes one with 8 quart additional.

I was thinking of just getting an OEM pan. I’ve found them for about $30.

Any benefits to the extra capacity other than maybe extended oil change interval?

It will run cooler with the higher fluid capacity and the cooling fins on the aftermarket pan. The negative is the larger quantity of fluid to deal with during changes.

I’ll have to look into that. I’ve always heard the fins on the pan don’t help much, if any, and extra fluid just takes longer to heat up but doesn’t actually run cooler. Also takes longer to cool down with the extra fluid.

My buddy Ed installed one on his 2018. Nice unit. Definitely a quality piece.

Check out Lubrication Engineering oil products, run and flush trans fluid at 1000 miles, and they say should be good for 100,000 miles doing what we do, I've noticed huge improvements (especially cold engine) with their engine oil since I swapped, and I've always used either rotella T6, then was using Valvoline Premium Blue. The LE oil is far superior, I've oil analysis to prove it

I've also heard that it's not worth it, and just takes longer to cool once heated.
