I had to use a plastic tool on my Subaru to gently pry off. A little nerve racking as I had to be more aggressive than a gentle. But I finally popped it out.

What brand bulb did you use? If you are replacing both high & low, why didn't you do them at the same time since it was rather difficult.

I got the bulbs from Headlight Experts. Right now, if you use 10percent in the discount code you can get 10 percent off the order and they are doing free shipping. I ordered the bulbs with the warning cancel/capacitors hard wired to the bulbs. They were the only site I found that offered a lifetime warranty on their bulbs. All 4 bulbs cost me about $200. As a retired jet engine mechanic, its not all that difficult, just tedious. Engineers design crap to make it fit, mechanics would make it fit AND be easily accessible. I only replaced the low beams at first because they were rather expensive and I wanted to make sure I would be happy with them before springing for the second set. Now that I've done the low beams and I need to repeat the removal process for the high beams, I think I have a better idea on how to do the job a bit more efficiently.

Bought a new to me 2017 F250 6.7L Diesel Lariat. Super cab short box FX4. With puck system factory.
Traded in my 2018 F250 6.2L gasser XLT super cab short box.

Then ordered a brand new Pullrite Superglide 20K slider with Puck mount.

All so I could pull our 1.5 year old Eagle 321RSTS and still get more than 3-5 miles per gallon! I loved that Ford gas engine, but 3-5 miles per gallon ON FLAT HIGHWAY was far too costly.

PS: I may never go without Lariat package again! I have never been big on the ultra fancy, but now that I have drove this for 2 days.... I am sold.

I have a wife who is freezing when I am sweating. Dual zones with heated and cooled seats is going to be great!
We also have 2 dogs, 2 year old German Shorthaired Pointers. Always act cold even here in Tucson.

That double moonroof powered is nice also. Have not had a sunroof since the 80's in a T-top Camaro. Wife has her convertable mustang, but me at 270 lbs and 6'3" I dont really fit in that thing too well.

Fixed the dreaded 7.3 powerstroke dip stick tube to oil pan adapter oil leak. Used the strictly diesel billet adapter with the dual seals that seals on the outside of the pan. I also installed my christmas gift, energizer 30 foot jumper cables w/quick connect mounted behind the grill. No more positioning the truck to charge the tt battery while boondocking at deer camp. Or pushing a car out of a parking spot to jump it. Or opening the hood to do it.

Added the high beam LED headlights. A bit more difficult than the low beams as they fit a LOT tighter in the housing and I needed to "clock" or adjust the alignment of the bulb in relation to the locking lugs. After I finished the drivers side the passenger side was a little easier.

Put new boots on the old F150. Michelin Agilis Cross Climate from Costco with $150 discount from Michelin. Feels much better just driving....even the DW noticed the difference. Can't wit to see how they feel pulling the 5er.
Happy RVing,
Jeff

Replaced the CCV filter and air filter on the truck.

Note to all 2017+ super duty owners:

If you have more than 40k miles I would highly advise checking yours. They get clogged and cause excessive blow by which in turn can lead to oil pan leaks.

To check, have truck running at idle and open the oil fill cap. There shouldn’t be any excess pressure. If your cap tries to shoot off, you need to replace the filter.

The CCV box will have 8 bolts on the lid. If you don’t have any bolts, yours doesn’t have a filter and doesn’t suffer from this issue.

Mine was exactly like the video.

Ended up having to drop the truck off at the dealer to fix some oil leaks that continue to get worse. The fix is to pull the motor and replace the oil pan seal, oil filter adapter seal and the timing chain cover seal.

Should be good to go to haul our camper this summer... 😂

You don't list your TV in your post. What do you have? I had an F150 that required 5 replacement oil pans and Ford never pulled the engine or lifted the cab. Contrary to F250s that need turbo work, you gotta lift the cab to work on it.

I'll need to update my signature.

I have a 2009 Ford F350 FX4 Crew Cab Standard bed with the 3v V10, 4.10 rear end. I purchased the truck about three years ago with 78,000 miles on it, with 4k engine hours. So I knew it had been idled / used for construction etc. Been going through it replacing items as needed. Didn't have a leak until this past summer.

Took it to one shop and they told me it was a head gasket, took it to another shop and they said it was the oil pan. Wife said just drop it off at the dealer and they ran the dye test. Had a leak from the oil pan, oil filter and a "substantial" leak from the timing chain cover.

In the past I would have sold it off, but it's paid for and new trucks are insanely priced so the repair bill feels cheap.

4k hours is not high, even on gassers. My stepson has a 2008 Super Duty King Ranch he just put a long block in, and it's a diesel. Set him back $14k but he did get 149k miles out of the factory powerplant with full delete. The truck is THAT good....he has a 'fleet' of Fords and is in the oil field service industry. He even has a 2007 6.0 Powerstroke that is approaching 30k hrs with a set of heads eight years ago around the 8k hour mark. Six bolts and four wiring harness connectors allow them to 'raise the cab' on any Ford SD and access everything on the engine. A local volunteer Fire Department has a 2006 F350 v-10 pumper in fire service with 170k miles on it and a 2006 F350 ambulance converted to a command post with over 250k miles that run just fine.

kblast523,

Yeah that's what surprised me. The utility I work for used to have a fleet of both 2v V10's and 3v V10's which went through the normal amount of driveline wear. All though it is rear they did have a few that would have leaks from the oil pan or oil cooler. The truck right now is sitting on about 92k miles, I maybe put 5k miles on it a year. The rest of the truck is in excellent condition, and besides pulling the motor which set me back 6k in repairs according to the tech working on it he can't find any other issues. Used vehicles up here go for 35-45k for an HD truck with a gas motor. In my mind I don't gain anything by swapping out for potentially someone else trouble, it's a good platform and handled my trailer with ease. It's paid for so it's cheaper to keep her.

You're a funny guy! You got a better chance of the next 2 snow seasons of the snow melting first before either side of the border opens. Lol!
