I’ll drive it more when I retire in 3-5 years and have to give up the “company” car! [emoji23]

My truck only has about 6300 on it and I got it new from the dealer in Sept of 2019. Put 1000 on in the first few weeks to break it in for towing driving to work.

I bought mine new in 2011, it turned 180,000 right before my trip to Yellowstone 2 weeks ago.

I’ve only put about 12,000 miles in the past 3 years, ever since I bought car for my daily driver.

Drove it to FL and back. 800 mile round trip without pulling the FW. Needed to put a little mileage on it so it now has 27,000 miles.

I installed a new oil pan due to the dealer torquing the drain plug to 62 FT LBs as recommended by Chevy. It should be 17 FT Lbs, confirmed with pan manufacturer....

Sounds like the dealer should’ve been installing the new pan, no charge.

Changed fuel filter after another 15K, (210,854), rotated its six tires a third time now at each 7500 or thereabouts(clockwise on passenger, counter clockwise on driver sides), gave it a wash and dry- half to with our hard water)….
and all beneath our new 18x45’ rv port install completed yesterday! So nice to have a concrete slab once again to do personal vehicle maintenance.

Not today, but Wednesday afternoon, I had everything hitched up and headed to the lake. I get about 13 miles from home, pulling a grade, and I get a warning light, coolant level low. I switched my dash monitor to gauges and start watching the engine temp. It's about 210 or so but climbing a little. I put it down to the outside temp and climbing hills. I keep an eye on it and it starts creeping up a bit more. When it got to 225-230, I pulled over and popped the hood. Uh-oh. Coolant all over the engine bay. I grabbed a partial case of bottled water and dumped about 7 bottles in the coolant recovery tank. Refired the engine and limped it into the nearest shop. I'm familiar with the tech there and had him look it over. At first he thought it was the water pump. Further inspection showed a piece of radiator shroud missing and a gash in the radiator. Called the local parts house, no radiators available from anywhere. Called the dealer and thankfully they have one in stock. They held it for me to pick up the next morning. Called the parts shop back and ordered a water pump. About 3PM I called Good Sam roadside assistance to get my trailer towed 20 miles back home. I explained my truck was at the shop for repair, the trailer was fine just needed a tow home. They took all my information and I finally get a text at 5PM saying the tow company is on the way. I know all the local tow companies and most of the drivers, but this one was new to me. I called the number and they are located in Yuba City, over 100 miles from where I am. They also asked me to take pictures of the trailer so they know what to bring with them to rig the broken axle for tow. Excuse me? Broken axle? No. My trailer is fine, my truck radiator decided to eat itself. I only need the trailer towed 20 miles home. 8:30PM driver finally shows up with a newer Ram 2500HD similar to my truck. I moved my truck from in front of the trailer and he hitches up. When we plugged in the power cord, no running lights. Now I know the trailer is good, when I parked it, I had to have the running lights on to use the back up camera. We start fiddling around with the fuse box, and after a few minutes, I said look, we have 3 choices. 1) Keep playing around with this but if we figure out we need even a fuse, we're screwed cause nothing around here is open. 2) Called for another tow vehicle and I wait another 4 hours. 3) hit the road and hope we get home before it gets full on dark. Driver opted for #3. We head out, saw 2 or 3 deer on the way, and by the time we parked, it was full on dark at 9:30. I spent the next 30 minutes unloading camping gear from my wife's car, she came to the shop to get the gear from the truck, and getting the generator put back in the shed, and finally got a chance to eat supper at 10PM. Ran into Reno yesterday and picked up the radiator. While I was there, the tech called me and said the shroud needed to be replaced as well. I had the dealer order one for me but it won't be in until Monday. Shop already has the radiator out, replaced the water pump and belt, now were waiting on the fan shroud and the tech doesn't work Mon. So, hopefully, the shroud will be in Monday, I can pick it up and drop it at the shop so first thing Tuesday morning he can finish up reinstalling the rest of the cooling system and service it. Then he's going to replace the fuel filters. They are close to being due and I want them replaced before we head to South Dakota in a couple weeks. I had the fuel filter, oil and oil filter on the same schedule but when it went into the dealer for warranty repair of the oil leak, they changed the oil and filter. So, we'll do fuel filters now and put them back in sync next oil change. I normally change every 10K miles, and I only have about 2K on this oil change. Side note, when I was on the way to Portola this morning, right about in the same area where I pulled over with the trailer on Wednesday, I saw something moving in the woods on the left side of the road. I slowed and took a closer look, it was a adult bear. Thank God I didn't see that on Wednesday!

Very interesting. When the water pump let go in my wife's 2010 Ram, it took out the radiator shroud in the process. It thankfully didn't damage the radiator.

According to the mechanic, the water pump isn't bad right now, but you can feel and hear some resistance when you spin the pulley. AT 80K miles on the clock and not knowing if it's ever been replaced, he recommended replacing it while the radiator is out. Easy access and only 2 bolts. He's already made the swap.

Was your truck included in the recall on water pumps a few years ago or is it too new to have been part of that? In any case, I definitely agree with changing it at this point.

Mine is a 2018. I've looked at the recall list by vin and there's nothing there for my truck.
