It's pretty simple - takes about 15 minutes. The only tool needed is a 7mm socket.

And here is that filthy filter - that is after ~15K miles which as I recall is the recommended maintenance interval. Definitely going to be replacing it more frequently.

Nice...but K&N makes a washable...about $40.00 never buy one again. Use, rinse, repeat.

Well, I’ve been busy working on the truck… I never cared for the primer color of the steel wheels I bought to replace the aluminum ones that came with the truck. I got a quote of $150/ wheel for Powdercoating, I decided to paint them first to see if I liked the color.

After a little research I decided on VHT, roll bar and chassis paint in a glossy black. I cleaned the wheels with Simple green and a scotch pad. I left them in the sun and began putting lite coats on them. The VHT sprays out very evenly but also very lightly which makes for extremely even coats.

Yesterday it was at the dealer for oil change and multi-point inspection/tire rotation.

Picked up a set of used wheels for my '07 Ram yesterday. They were off of an '06 and still had the factory BFG's on them.

Threw those tires away today and mounted up a new set of Firestone Destination XT's.

Sunday morning, I got in the truck and click... click... click...

When I parked it Friday night, she was good to go. Proof a battery can and will leave you flat when she's had enough of you. She took the majority of charge out of the other battery with her. I'm not too sad, I got 7 years of of the pair. I had jumper cables, but even with putting the battery out of the camper in place of the bad one, she didn't have enough juice to turn over. Since I had jumper cables already attached, a fellow camper stopped to ask if I needed any assistance.

His jeep wouldn't jump it straight away. I put the camper battery back in the camper and the OEM battery back in the truck since the camper battery wouldn't fit the space under the hood to drive to get new batteries. After a 10 minute charge, the system was back up to 12.6 volts and she fired right up. I didn't turn it off until I had secured the new batteries and they were in my possession.

My son and I are on a 2 week excursion.. 5 different campgrounds.

While at campground 4, I realized that I'm tired of climbing into the back of the truck to land the safety chains in the bed under the Andersen Ultimate Hitch and elected to make this process something I can do from the ground. So I reversed the chains so that the clevis mounts go on the chain anchor points in the bed and the hooks go up to the loops on the 5th wheel adapter. Now I can hook up and disconnect the safety chains from the ground.

I'm 6'4" tall, so I can grab the hooks and land them on the 5'ver from the ground, a shorter person might have to use a step stool or climb up on top of the wheel, but they shouldn't have to get in the bed anymore.

Today's project is to tackle some more rust repair on my wife's Ram. Front fenders under where the mud flaps were mounted.

Spent the afternoon hand waxing the Sprinter. Even got my father involved in the process. I always forget how much I hate black paint until you start polishing it. The amount of oxidation that this paint develops is just amazing.

I still need to do a little 303 on the plastic moldings. But, I think it came out pretty well.

Got some bad gas a few weeks go while traveling a few weeks back. While out of town could not get parts, had to limp home. Today I installed new injectors, plugs and coils.
