Gassed it up, checked all fluid levels, tire pressures, battery, etc. Then filled the long bed up to the gilligans with camping stuff to get ready to leave Sunday for a week at Fool Hollow Lake, AZ.

Happy RVing,
Jeff

Installed a Traxion 5-100 Tailgate Ladder.
Super glad I did too. I'm getting to old and stiff to be trying to climb up that tailgate!

Picked up a new grease gun, needle tip, and grease so I can grease my front axle drive shaft. Apparently on RAM trucks, it is to be done at each oil change interval. I just saw the notice in the manual and under the hood last time I changed the oil (which was only the second time ever for the truck), so I figured I better follow the instructions and get it done. Also picked up new wiper blades and washer fluid. Once that's all done, we should be GTG (at least insofar as the truck is concerned) for our long trip coming up!

Bob, there's a youtube video that shows you exactly how to complete the greasing of the front axle drive shaft. It's not difficult.

Not today, but tomorrow, will be replacing front U-Joints on my Dodge. Drivers side is bad, but I believe in the old train of thought that if you change one, you should change both.
I will look at the ball joints as long as I'm in there and possibly replace those.

Found the video a while back, but couldn't find the "spot" until I was ready to do it. I got down there yesterday and found that there is in fact a fitting there, it's just not a "zerk" fitting. The worst part of the job was that I had to get out from under the truck at the end of the driveway and drag my air hose all the way out there so I could blow the dirt out of the way (I didn't want to pump sand up in there ahead of the grease). Once it was clear of debris, it was plain as day. I stuck the needle on the fitting and pumped until grease came out. Easy peesy.

I also changed the wiper blades and hauled a load to the dump. The truck is completely ready for our trip, I just have to load it up! Well, I should also clean the inside of the windshield, but that shouldn't take long.

DW took it to the car wash for me on Friday, so it's all nice and clean!

Nothing ever goes easy. Luckily the ball joints were all good, however, the passenger side wheel bearing was going bad and as it turns out, it was goo I was replacing the both U-joints anyway as the passenger side one was bad as well. Serious pain in the a getting the old u joints out.

Luckily my DW is an intelligent lady who knows a little mechanicing as well. She was able to make the runs to the parts store to get me a new 18mm impact socket on one trip, the new wheel bearing and a 1 3/4" impact socket on another trip. She knew exactly what I was looking for and what it all looked like and what to ask for.

Checked the fluids and took it to the car wash so it's ready to go Thursday for our trip to Pismo Beach.

Got it all back down to "daily driver" duty and unloaded after the long tow to/from Colorado.

Just purchased a tow vehicle to tow my new TT. Of course, the preliminary things must be done to get it usable for my needs.

Rhino-lining in bed, camlocker toolbox, off-road tires to start. Will put tow mirrors on it as soon as i find what I am looking for. I'll post the 1st pics once I pick it up after lunch.

Ordered all new brake lines (hard and flex ). I had known the 99-07 GM trucks had tons of complaints about rusted brake lines. After completing a repair on my ABS module I decided to replace my heavily rusted lines before they become a problem.

Have a Chevy 2013 Express Customized Van 1500. The 1500 rear end would not pull the trailer I wanted. Looked at the 2500, same engine, same transmission. Found a 2500 rear end and had it installed. Hmmmm. While the rear end mechanic assured me that everything would fit, the stop bumpers didn't stop the axle from hitting the frame. Had to order new stop bumpers and have them installed.

Busy day but was great to add to the longevity

Didn't do it today but I added the Roadmaster Active Suspension last weekend and it works great! Lifted the truck about an 1" and I have about an 1 1/2" difference from the back to the front...no more sag and a solid ride towing. I had a nice ride with the factory suspension but a little sag and some bouncing on the expansion joints but with a test drive all but gone/reduced significantly.

Thanks to all the peoples suggestions to go with the RAS and save the $$ by not getting the air bags. The install only took about an 1 1/2 hours and most of the time was spent jacking it up, taking and putting the tires back on. Also thanks to Marcm157 who helped out with some good advice.

Journey on to safe travels.
