I added a front camera to my truck. Mounted it to the grill guard. Automatically comes on at 7 mph or less. Displays on oem screen via lockpick.

Here’s the camera

Here’s the view from inside.

Jack

This is the camera I used for the grill guard. Basically it’s a rear view camera that can be used as a front camera. For it to record, it would need to be hooked into a DVR.

Or, you could get a dash cam. Here’s the one I just got.

Am I missing something, why do you need a front facing camera for low speeds.

Thanks Tom.

That's exactly what I'm looking for. Pics after you get it installed. Trying to figure out the best way to mount in truck where it looks good and you really don't see it.

Since we have almost exactly the same truck.............guess I have to copy. LOL

You don’t really “need” one but with the grill guard sticking out and with it being hard to see clearly over the hood, the camera helps in parking so you don’t bump into the car ahead (or park 5 feet away from it)

Interested to see where/how you mount it.
I would like to hide wires so they are not seen at all.

Here’s where I have it mounted

I need to get the hard wire kit to wire it up permanently instead of using the cigarette lighter adapter and run the wires inside the gap of the headliner and windshield.

In the kit is a “cover” that hides the wires going from camera to headliner from view. It is installed on top of the camera.

This is what it would look like with the cord cover

And from the outside

Yes, but it will not have power to the camera unless the truck is on and upfitter switch turned on. (That’s how the upfitter switches are on my ‘14). Unless there’s a way to make upfitters work without key on, I think I’m going to run mine to a constant hot circuit, that way the camera will record while it’s parked.

Just asking because I don't know about the Ford's...but on my Ram switches 1&2 are always hot (as long as switched on) and switches 3-5 are only on with the ignition in the on position and switched on.

Just curious on the Ford's??

The new fords are like that too. Those of us with older models have to turn the key on [emoji22]
