Took it out of the garage, drove a while then filled it up with gas and loaded stuff in it in preparation for our long camping weekend.

I've put a propane tent heater under some blankets and a tarp for the pool equipment and every time the power comes back on I'm outside breaking up the ice in the pool. Last night was a LONG night! If your thinking of getting a pool...DON'T!

The pool equip has been our only casualty. Lost power for 10hrs and since I was out of town just had the wife flip the breaker knowing it would freeze. Lost the VSP pump housing, a few valve housings, and some PVC is cracked. Not bad. At least the house plumbing survived. All repairable, but parts are scarce.

Discovered I have an oil leak coming from the front of the engine somewhere. Not sure If its coming from the front crank seal or the timing cover. I'm dropping it off at the shop Wednesday morning on my way into work for them to let it sit in front of one of the bays at idle so they can determine what is actually leaking.

Put diesel in both the main & aux tanks. Put air in all tires to specs. Lubbed up the 5th wheel hitch. All set to leave this coming Saturday for San Antonio.

I put nerf bars on this past Saturday. I've had these for a month and the weather finally cooperated. Now my wife can climb in easy!

OH MY ACHING WALLET! The shop called me with the bad news. The oil leak is coming from the timing plate to engine block gasket. From what I understand, the repair takes at least 6 hours, involves raising the cab and front clip off the frame, and removing the camshaft. The gasket is under $20. Labor is gonna be the killer. I DID purchase an extended warranty when I bought the truck, I just need to research if I can have it repaired at a local shop or do I need to take it to an authorized dealer for repair. If the former, I may have to pay upfront to have the repairs completed then fight with the warranty company to get reimbursed.

Is this on a Cummins or the 6.4L V8? If it is on a Cummins, that 6 hours is a very conservative estimate. I've done a half dozen or more timing cover replacements on various years (mostly the older 12-valves due to the dowel pin issue) and it is usually about 1 to 1 1/2 days of solid work to get everything back together. The worst parts of it are removing the core support and dealing with the lifters during the cam R&R.

Drove it on a 1740 mile round trip (without the FW). Now I have to wash all the road salt off I picked up in MO.

Ditto! I last used the truck to bring the TT home from the dealer in early January after some service work was done. Got the TT home just before the snow really started in earnest. We got 40" of snow since then and it just started to melt last week. Had to put air in the tires first. The tires closest to the garage door were LOW!
