1412 pounds per door sticker on 2014 ram 1500 tradesman. It the lowest of any of any brand of half ton trucks. If I would have realized that before I bought it, I would have bought something else.

Haven't these gotten better the last couple years? I remember back when I was looking, in the 1/2T world, Rams were the worst. But step into a 3/4T, and it was a whole different ball game. My Ram 2500 had GOBS of payload (gas engine).

I think the ram 1500’s still have the lowest payload and towing capacity in half tons. I’ve got the low trim level tradesman; if I had a higher trim level then my payload would be even lower. Of course those numbers don’t mean anything if the trucks not working. It’s spent more time in the shop then any other vehicle I’ve owned. Most of the stuff are items that are known issues that ram has carried over into the 5th gens. For example the fuel sending unit has been a known issue since 2012, but the issue is starting to be seen in the 5th gens. Luckily I got the lifetime powertrain warranty from fca when I bought the truck with 49 miles on it. If you’re ever in Reno avoid Reno dodge. Dive a hour away to Carson dodge. Their service department is far superior. I’ve had someone on a ram forum that mentioned how dissatisfied he was with Reno dodge as he was passing through town and had an issue.

Remind me to check the payload on my wife's Ram 1500 when I get home. If I remember correctly, it was in that 1400 pound range. Her truck is also a ST (Tradesman) package truck.
