ledunn,
Welcome to JOF
The Eagle HT 324BHTS has a GVWR of 10,950lbs, thus can produce a heavy tongue weight when loaded with the recommend 13% - 15% of gross weight for a heavy/long TT.
The 324BHTS "as-shipped" UVW will come in around 9,000lbs (yellow sticker)...., so a modestly loaded 324BHTS could weigh (no fluids included): UVW 9,000lbs + Cargo 1,000lbs + Dealer 75lbs =
10,075lbs loaded weight. Your actual gross weight depends on your personal loading habits/requirements.
If you normally travel with a full fresh water tank add another 630lbs, and tank location can influence impact on tongue weight.
Loaded tongue weight @10,075lbs gross weight = 1,310lbs - 1,511lbs (13% - 15%). The heavier and longer TT's average closer to 15% (enhanced TV handling). Loaded to the TT's 10,950lb GVWR = 1,424lbs - 1,643lbs (13% - 15%).
IMO a WDH with a spring bar rating in the 1,500lb - 1,700lb range would be ideal (i.e.: Reese Strait-line 1,700lb model #66075).
I would recommend taking your RAM 2500 under loaded conditions (full fuel, passengers, etc.) to a CAT scale and weigh it (3 minutes & $9). Subtract the CAT weight from your RAM's specified GVWR and you will have your RAM's remaining "available" cargo capacity (to support loaded tongue weight and WDH weight). Great data to know when shopping for a TT or FW.
Just food for thought.
