Which WDS to go with????

I am at a loss and confused! Just bought a 29RLDS with a tongue weight of 850. Towing with F150 Ecoboost with max tongue weight of 1425.

After researching all the WDS with anti-sway, I can't figure out which one would be the best.

Does anyone have a recommendation?

Was considering these:

https://www.etrailer.com/Weight-Dist...e/RP66561.html

Thanks for the help!

AJ,

As you are aware the 850lb tongue weight isn't representative of your "loaded" tongue weight....., which IMO with the 29RLDS (9,250lb GVWR) will be at least 1,200lbs ....., depends on your loading habits. To optimize TV handling of the 33ft 29RLDS ideally a loaded tongue weight range of 13% - 15% (of gross weight) would be desirable.

The Reese Strait-Line 1,500lb WDH would be my choice of the three you listed...., the Strait-Line is the best integrated sway control model Reese offers. The 1,500lb rated WDH isn't over kill for a TT like the 29RLDS.

What ever your WDH decision, take your TV/TT combination to a CAT scale for a weigh-in...., the results will also insure that your WDH is adjusted correctly based on your loading style.

CAT Scale how-to: https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f...v-tt-3871.html

Proper installation/adjustment is key in optimizing the performance of any WDH.

AJ,

Like Rustic mentioned, the DC system is going to provide the best sway control.

I’m not that familiar with the SF system from Reese. Looks like a newer. Edison if the SC system. One thing I notice right away that makes me lean toward the DC, is the hitch head tilt has more fine tuning on the DC trunnion head vs the SF, at least from the pic. This may allow you to tweak the tilt for just a little more or less Wright transferred.

Not knowing your loading habits, I would probably also suggest the 1500lb bars as well. Especially if you usually haul water and the tank(s) is/are up front.

My “brochure” 910lb tw hd actually scaled at 1,400lbs with only 20gals of water and 3-26” (1-Specialized, 2-Treks) mountain bikes on the bike rack in the rear cargo hitch. I also have 1500lb bars.

Good luck deciding!!!

Not to disagree with the other opinions but after much research, I bought the Reese Steadi-Flex.

I have towed with the first generation Reese Dual Cam back in the 1980s and the the recent one you mentioned.

If you got with the Steadi Flex, search the internet as I found it for $100.00 less than eTrailer.com.

A second reason I bought the Steadi-Flex over the Dual Cam is the SF is a bolt on with no holes having to be drilled in the trailer frame.

Makes it a bit more "Murphy's Law" proof.

My TT is just over 7k loaded. I had a friction sway last year that I was completely unhappy with. i did research over the winter and decided on the Equalizer WD system. Currently I am in West Glacier on a 3 week trip and could not be happier with it. I have experience bad storms/high winds in Nebraska and it performed GREAT! I cannot say enough good about it ! I also tow with a F150 and the equalizer is a good fit for the truck !

Pro-Pride or Hensley Arrow are the best way to go, but make sure when you look at them your wife has the smelling salts ready...

I always find it interesting when all the OP asked for was the opinion on his three choices of WDHs and not what everyone else towed with or favored.

I know we all have opinions and like to express them but...

Hmmmm... thinking further, I may have been guilty of this myself and will try to remember that.

He asked "Which WDS to go with????" which is rather an open question. As mentioned above, Hensley or ProPride are the best hitches on the market. The rest is just matter of preferences.

Not to argue, but he also listed three links to WDHs he is considering.

Guess interpretation comes into play here.
