Wth flat land towing and if you don't pack a lot you should be good. With the new hitch, Trans will be your first issue. A trans cooler would be a good thing. At least change the trans fluid every year.... I miss my Tahoe. She was a good truck. Sold her with almost 200k miles and she drove like new.

Ok so great news today! Called my buddy at the GM dealership i use to work at, they do all my maintenance. He looked up my vin for me. We found out i have a heavy duty tranny cooler and a secondary on my tranny. No worries in that department. I also ordered my brake controller too.

I don't know anything about that brake controller but many of us use the Tekonsha Prodigy 3.

I have used cheaper ones, and now have a Tekonsha Prodigy 3 - it is absolutely better and worth the money!

Yes it is great news made me very happy. Im feeling as if i should have asked about the brake controller. But we use these in a few of the trucks at work.

Is that a timed based controller? IF so, there is a gue difference between the time based (applies full braking (which you have set power at) after the set time (which is adjustable) vs an inertia based controller. I used a time based for years, works fine. But then when we got our 2500HD, with the factory controller which is inertia based, I couldn't believe the difference! The inertia based controller will apply the trailer brakes based on the rate at which the tow vehicle is slowing down. Slam on the brakes and it will apply full power (that you have set it at), but if you gradually slow down and the controller applies a lower voltage to the trailer brakes. An inertia based will also release the trailer brakes once you have come to a complete stop, at least our factory controller does. Time based still applies brakes once stopped.

Had we not stepped up to the 2500HD, I would have bought the Prodigy P2 I think it was for our 1500.

Well after some second thoughts, i decided to upgrade pur TV. So the yukon is up for sale and we purchased a 2003 2500hd Silverado with the 8.1 . We are set now.

Next question does this truck have the same hitch failure as my yukon or is it a better one? Its still the round tube style but seems bigger..... Unfortionatly the money i spent on the new one for the yukons new hitch is lost and cant reuse it on the new truck cause the frames are different. Oh well
