16XRB hot water bypass shutoff?

My husband began winterizing our 16XRB over the weekend and although he looked all over the place, and read the manual--he could not find the bypass to the hot water heater so we don't get anti-freeze into it!

Anybody out there give us a clue to where this shutoff might be?

The bypass is almost always located at the water heater. It's not a major problem if you get antifreeze in the tank...just takes alot more antifreeze and a longer purge come Spring.

The bypass valves are right behind the water heater. A lot of time the water heater is behind or under some cabinet, bench or something, and Jayco puts a single #2 square drive screw to secure the location closed. Go outside find the water heater, then look inside at that spot. You may need to remove a bench cushion (that is how I get to mine), sometimes there is a door that does not open.

Just have to look around, and do not be surprised you need a tool to access it. I removed the screw the first day, and it has never been put back.

Thank you! You are the "winner" on guessing where the valves were! :-) My husband had hunted everywhere except under that screwed in panel. He now has a much better grasp on what he will be doing when finishing the winterizing. I told him that asking the forum would be the best idea! :-) Thanks again!

Just winterized my 16xrb this past weekend. The water heater bypass is under the dining cushion closest to the fridge, under the other cushion is the pump. It was my first time winterizing and was pleasantly surprised to see all of the connections in place (wasn't sure if dealer installed it last winter or if it was there from the factory). It took a little under 2 gallons and just a couple of minutes.
