17 C New to Me: Question 4 - Seam Sealant

Okay, again, this may sound like a dumb question and I have tried to do as much research on this as possible before asking. My question is the about the corner seams, windows, doors, storage compartments, etc - what sealant do I use to seal these joints? The original butyl take is looking a little brittle in some points. Do I take the entire trim loose and replace the butyl tape? OR, should I seal these seams with silicone or something else? I have read may places that silicones and home based sealants have no place around an rv...do I need something specific to an RV application or is a typical home window and door silicone okay to use??? Thanks in advance!!!!!

gdiep - Thanks for the response. I used some Dicor to touch up the roof and thanks to advice from others on here, I have ordered some Eternabond to finish the job once and for all which I look forward to doing. I didn't know if I used the non-leveling Dicor around the trim, windows, doors, etc, or some type of silicone sealant?!?!? I just want to use the right stuff the first time and not mess something up.

Dicor. Use the kind that hardens almost instantly around the windows and doors. You only have seconds literally seconds to work it if you need to push it into cracks.

Menards have it if you have Menards.

saw this on line, its what I used

Our dealer recommended ISO Quad, I pick it up from Manards. Cut a very small opening, to apply it. Then have a small container with very soapy water to wipe and mold it. It dries up quickly. Works great!

Dicor 501 self leveling lap sealant on roof if you prefer to stay with OEM, sides and everything else I prefer Geocel Proflex. Quad is similar to the Proflex from what I've played with. Just remember on the Proflex to smooth with mineral spirits, not water like you do caulk. Some have also a used dawn / water mix. The trick is, work fast, smooth fast, and only do short runs as it dries very fast as mentioned above.

Jagiven & BigJohnD - Thanks so much for the responses! That helps a lot! One more question - maybe a silly one, but do you guys prefer clear or white, or does it really matter?? I was thinking the clear might show the darker butyl underneath, but maybe that's just me overthinking things! Let me know....THANKS!

Matter of preference. I used black around all of the black trim and clear on others.

BigJohnD - I can see the black on black for sure. Since mine is mostly all white, I was debating the clear or the white...but on second thought, I already see the old butyl there anyway, so the clear really wouldn't change the look other than sealing it up. But, I guess maybe a trial run of each might be the best course of action. I do really appreciate your advice and recommendation. Thank you so much for taking the time!

I would pick a color that works with your TT, I use white as my HTT is all white.
