19XUD front bed

My wife and I purchased a nice 19XUD hybrid last year that we enjoy. We've used it three times and haven't had any major issues, but my main complaint is the front bed that we use and I'm usually the one lying over the spot where the hinge is.

I've tried to create a level surface by shimming with cardboard and augmenting that with some workout mats, but I've wondered if anyone has come up with a less cumbersome solution.

The cardboard does not want to stay put at times and, so, I have to move the cardboard back in under the workout mats and it can be difficult to slide cardboard against a rubber mat.

Try a little Velcro.

Yes, Velcro! Friends of ours have the same problem. They purchased a rolled up camping/sleeping pad and cut that to fit. They used the 3M Velcro and three years later still holding firm.

You have to swap spots with the DW! I find the hinge uncomfortable, but the DW states she does not even notice it.

I would question longevity of cardboard, as the gap is fairly large, and cardboard is very soft. You may want to find a thin sheet of paneling (~1/8 thick) to span the gap. Long term I expect it will hold up better.
