What's everyone doing to replace these when they break? I spun one out this weekend only to find they are not made anymore and apparently haven't been for a long time! Searching is coming up empty on many if any options.
Yea neither option I want....May be stuck with that. The cam locks are probably the best option but I don't want to pay that much to fix it. The cheap way is the screw down. I just hate doing that every time I camp.
Honestly I can't stance the screw kind. Unless you put something through it to lock it in place you risk the chance of it backing out and your bunk falling... Ask me how I know. That is why I'll be swapping to the kind in the video, one at a time, as they break.
So I went simple at first. I just cut a big deep slot with my dremel an use a big sturdy screw driver to latch the bunk. Doing this it worked great and I can still cut one other slot without compromising anything.
Eventually I'll have to do the new RV latches or machine the centers and jb weld in a piece of square. For now though I'm happy and can even replicate this on the road if need be.
The biggest lesson is to make sure you have the bunk material all out of the hinges etc and don't force it. I did not when I broke it but I know I had in the past. That will keep the tension off of it when turning.
Ok, I was to quick to comment. I did the research and I see now that my 2002 23b has different latches. That I do get at Amazon. But I have not found the ones for your year yet. I will keep an eye out.
Thank you. Yea the jayco dealer told me they only used these a year and a half. I did an image search based in years and he’s right. Only a year and a half.
