Unhappy 2011 17Z bed dropdown warping

I have a 2011 17Z and I have found the rear bed drop down is warped and leaks when in the up position. Has anyone else had this issue and what did you do about it. I know it is covered by the warranty but will they try and fix it or just replace the door?

I would insist on a replacement door.

Had ours 2 years

We've had our 17 for 2 years and have never had a water or warping problem and have towed through some pretty heavy storms.

Sounds to me like you had a bad seal and now a warped tip out. I agree, contact Jayco, it sounds like a manufacturing issue.

Good luck,

Warren

Dropped off the trailer yesterday and they said they will get to it tomorrow and so we will see if they will replace the door without a fight. We will wait and see.

I just heard from the dealer on this and Jayco is replacing the door. They say it should be shipped in 4-6 weeks. I hope it gets here before the snow falls as the place I want to store the trailer will be hard to get to once the snow falls.

Glad to hear that you're getting it replaced with no arguement. Do you have a picture of the damage?

I thought about it but there was not much to see. When looking at the door it just looked like the edges are in place but the center was out about a half to 1 inch. Just enough to leak water when it rains when in the locked position. They did not even tell me it was put on order until I called about a week after I dropped it off to see what they were doing about it.

Please provide some follow-up information ...

... if you can. Particularly, what was wrong with the original panel, or what caused it to warp? As hybrid owners, that's a concern for all of us.

I'm curious to know if it was defective material, assembly, or something else. You might never know for sure, but if you find out I would appreciate knowing.

I picked up my trailer today and they had no idea why it warped and this is the first time they had seen this happen. I go to Hilltop trailers in MN and they fixed everything I listed plus they fixed the drape that divides the rear bed from the rest of the trailer that had been pulled off I did not even mention. I was very impressed!! Thanks HILLTOP and Jayco.

Hilltop has been great to work with. Bought my 2010 17Z there with no regrets. I made a small list of warranty items for them to fix before the 2 yr warranty expired and they took care of everything in a day. I have them do my axle bearing maintenance too.

Thanks for the follow-up. I'm glad you're happy with the repairs, and that it's not a common problem.

I had the same problem with the frot on my 17 c picked it up last night havent had a chance to open it up and check it out yet. My dealer says they had a problem with the manufraturer of the door and has since changed vendors.
