2016 X23b Grill question

Is it safe to use the factory supplied outside gas grill under the canopy?

Not fond of having a melted canopy the 1st time I use the gas grill.

Thanks!

I do it all the time - there is quite a bit of space between the grill and the "canopy". I don't think even a massive grease flareup from a really fatty steak would reach that high but I would try to avoid that.

The only think I try to be conscious of is the proximity of the fire ring to the Awning as sparks and embers can fly up and melt little holes.

Our grill was just to the left of the door and under the awning. Used it several times with no problems. if you used it three meals a day for a year there might be some soot but we didn't have a problem.

Double reply, not sure why.

It's a shame this Forum software won't let us delete our own posts.

When we got our X23B I thought the grill was just a gimmick and would never use it. Turns out I use it fairly often. Ours is located under the awning as well. That comes in handy when it is raining. Never had a problem with heat reaching the awning.

Thanks for all the great input guys!

I thought that they would not place it under the awning if it was not safe to use there.

I have noticed that it is not the highest quality grill though. Anyone have any input on a better replacement that would fit the existing mount?

Happy Camping!!!

We use a Coleman RoadTrip grill but leave it off to the side of the awning. Have had this grill for 8 years now and I still love it. Works better than my monster home BBQ. I have a new Coleman Gladiator stove (XMas gift) that fits the arms from the Jayco BBQ mount almost perfectly (still have to cut two small slots in the bottom panel for a perfect fit) so that's what goes in that spot for outdoor cooking.

Problem with Coleman products is that they are all high pressure LPG (regulator is at the unit) so they don't work with the gas quick connect on the TT. Your choice becomes modification to the gas fittings on the Coleman (a couple of threads on that here already), or T a high pressure hose off the tanks before the regulator (that's how we do it).
