23j bounces

I have a 2011 Jayco 23j that I tow with a F150 FX4 that has a factory lift kit in it. When ever we get to our campsite the contents in the back cupboards are all messed up and everything above the sink is in dissaray as well. I am wondering if anyone else has this issue with the 23j. I am also wondering if this could be because of the factory lift kit on the truck....

Are you using a WDH?
Do you have sufficient Tongue weight?
Is you trailer tongue just slightly ~1" lower than the back of your trailer?

Those things may help.

I have a lift kit on my 4Runner and don't think that would cause more bounce.
The better shocks et. should help dampen out bounce.

Single axel trailers and pop ups are more difficult to prevent bounce too.

Just some thoughts,
Doug

Yep, sounds like either the tongue weight is to light or the the trailer is sitting to high in the front.

Besides what others have said about the hitch height and weight.

These TT bounce a lot, everything is rattling while going down the road. Depending on the items, we place paper towels, pieces of thin closed cell foam, etc between items to keep them from rattling, scratching, damaging each other. It is important on how you stack things. The farther from the axles the worse the movement is.

Short story, we rented a MH a few years back and traveled through Alaska. I drove the whole time, but the noise at first from the dishes was incredible. There was a bedroom in the back and I was told laying on the bed was almost like being on a trampoline with a herd of kangaroos bounce all around you. I was told sitting on the chairs between the axles was not to bad.

i do have a WDH and it was installed and adjusted by the dealer. I am not sure on the tongue weight but the truck is
pretty much level with the trailer hooked up to it. I guess it might just might be something we are going to have to live with. I have just never had to re-orgainze everything when we get to a campground

Hmmm, the 23J is our 1st trailer and I just assumed the snow globe effect was normal. So this is not normal you say?? Then I'm really looking forward to take delivery on our new white hawk.

Do you feel your truck "bouncing" when you are towing? Is the trailer level when hitched up? If the front of the trailer is higher than the back it will "bounce" and feel like it's tugging back at you.

The cause of upset is vertical perturbations caused by speed, rough road surfaces, and a stiff suspension. Since the latter two are out of the control of the RVer, decreasing speed while securing the loose items is the only way to mitigate the problem. Also storing items lower down helps.

My 2 cents based on experience.

As for the high truck - that should have little to no effect on this problem. That said, I hope the OP has the correct amount of drop on the hitch so that the trailer is level fore to aft.

Our trailer is heavy and we have visited the CAT scales and everything seemed fine. I also have an F150. No bounce or tug to our truck. But I did have my bumper reinforced and added a bike rack to the hitch. My brother was driving behind be and said those bikes bounced around like crazy. So bad he took a video of it to show me. I wonder if its just this trailer.

it would be interesting to see some of that video....could you post some of it? i am thinking of adding a bike rack, but might not be a good idea.
