Any towing a 17Z w/Kia Sorrento V6?

I know it's a long shot...

But is anyone out there towing a 17Z(or similar) with a new Kia Sorrento V6 SUV?

I'm looking to sell my 17Z, and a potential buyer has this SUV, and is wondering if this SUV can handle it?

not positive but I believe they are rated for about 3000lbs. I'm gonna go with maybe.

TL 2016 towing guide shows the 3.5L V6 tow cap. at 3500lbs,

and the V6 AWD at 5000 lbs. Not sure of payload.

One thing I would suggest is that you make no implication regarding the suitability of the TV as part of your sale process. That's a decision for the buyer to make.

Agree! Many professional lot lizards would just say, "Sure it will tow it!"

I looked up the numbers last month:

2014 Kia Sorrento V6
Towing Capacity: 3500#
GVWR: 5182#
Min. Curb Weight: 3894#
= ~1,288# 'payload' or amount the vehicle can carry.

Tongue weight is published at 342#, but is likely much heavier.
17Z unloaded vehicle weight (published) is 2,825#. (3500# GVWR)

She wants to come over with the Kia Sorronto and hook it up, and take it for a test drive/tow. I'm saying no, since the WD hitch won't be setup for the Kia, and they don't have a Brake Controller installed....

The only way I'd agree to that is cash in hand first.

Pretty much. I'm not that hard-up to sell it anyway, as I really do like it.

We'll see how cramped it is this weekend, since it's our first time out with our two sons. Oldest is 3yrs old, and and our newest 6 week old.

Im sure you will have a blast. Some of the best trips we had were when our daughter was a baby. Time passes too quickly.

I have a 2006 kia Sorrento with that same engine. We used it to tow our old 1995 Rockwood freedom popup until I bought a Dodge Ramcharger. Its weight was about 1800. I would not tow anything bigger. The front of a full size trailer would kill it.

Kia Sorento towing

I'm towing (at least was towing) a 16xrb with a 2014 Kia Sorento v6 AWD.
It can handle it, fine for flat but reluctant to go more than 100 miles or so.
