Bedroom fan outlets

Hey all, I purchased a 12v fan to plug into the little white jack on the ceiling of the tent end. Every time I plug it in and turn it on the fan pops the 15a fuse. I thought maybe there was a short somewhere, but when I put a 20a fuse in the fan works great. Anyone experience this? I hate putting a 20a fuse in a 15a circuit, so I may check the actual wiring and rerun it if necessary, but I'm hoping there is an easier fix I am not thinking of.

We've had two pop-ups with those fan/light combos, but never had them blow fuses. I'd try to figure out why yours are doing that. They shouldn't draw that much amperage to pop 15 amp fuses. Perhaps there's a problem with the 12v power socket.

Thanks, I did drop both power sockets, and there was wire strippings and bare wire from the build-out at Jayco, but I cleaned all that junk out and still poping the fuse. The weird thing is that it pops it at both outlets.

Do you have more than one fan, or is it the same one that blows the fuse? Wondering if there's a wiring issue with the fan itself, or in the jack at the end of the coiled wire?

Good point, I only have the one fan, so the fan itself may be the issue when I'm thinking it's an issue with the trailer. I'm at a campground now, so maybe I'll strike up a conversation with a neighbor to see if they have one I can borrow. 😂

Just wanted to close the loop on this in case anybody sees us in the future and just having the same issue. I borrowed a fan from a neighbor, and their fan work fine on my rig with the 15 amp fuse. I took my fan apart, and there seemef to be one wire that was being crushed from the plastic, so I fixed that. Everything else looked fine. Also swapped the build for an LED. Plugged my fan in and now everything is working fine. Thanks JFlightRisk for the assist.

Thanks for the update. Glad it was something simple, and you are most welcome. It's always good to hear we helped.
